Workshop: Craftsmen and craftsmanship in the Early Middle Ages, 3. Leatherworking in the Early Middle Ages.
This series of yearly workshops aims to promote knowledge on craftsmen, craftsmanship and manufacturing techniques in the Early Middle Ages. This year the workshop will take place in Arsago Seprio (Archaeological Museum, November 26th 2016), and will focus on leatherworking. While analysing several types of objects, the lectures will deal with different issues, ranging from the production techniques and the workshops organisation, to the data provided by the archaeometric analyses, often essential in order to reconstruct the original appearance of the archaeological finds.
