When we started the PMT factory, we were assigned challenging goals, to hire the best talent in the market, including strong gender diversity. You would think that may be an aggressive target to start with—but not for us! As we approach Women’s Day, we would like to reminisce on the journey of bringing talented female associates into First Solar India. The Talent Acquisition (TA) Team took it on as a personal goal to make it happen, and when we hired the leadership teams, the challenge seemed to be even more daunting as we did not have a single woman on board in these roles. The journey has been a winding road and challenging at times, we have interviewed 1000+, selected 400 and hired almost 200 female associates so far! Weeks of relentless sourcing for talent, being on the road away from family, ensuring we reach all the logistically challenged areas of the states to procure the best possible talent for First Solar. The TA team consisting of Sarvesh Karthik, Nivedha shankar, Aarthi Karuppaiah Nirmala devi Haseer Mustafa, and Manoj Prabhu led by Dee Sequeira, CPHR (She/Her/Hers), have been relentlessly working on identifying talent in the south of India along with panelists from ME, M Ops, Maintenance, and Wastewater/Recycling. Thank you to all who have been supporting us in this journey. As they say, hard work never goes unnoticed. The Department of Technical Education from the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh have been very excited about this initiative of First Solar India and are supporting us in procuring talent and creating future pipelines. All the heads of these states for this department – all women in leadership leveraged this opportunity to spread this message across the state colleges and get their female students interviewed by First Solar. It has been so fulfilling to give opportunities to talented women who will be the future of India and First Solar. #opportunities #students #india #diversity #future #talent The journey is on, the momentum is building, and we look to go into North and East India next. We would like to thank Kuntal Kumar Verma and Caroline Stockdale for believing the TA team can make it happen! Happy Women’s Day! Here are some glimpses into our journey:
