"True Independent India: Celebrating India's 78th Independence Day" I had an amazing opportunity to spend two days at SAHYADRI FARMS POST HARVEST CARE LTD Nashik. This opportunity helped me see how a committed effort toward improving the lives of farmers can prove to be a game changer in the lives of many. The story of Sahyadri Farms the vision of a committed leader " Mr. Vilas Shinde" and his amazing team has inspired me and is a story to pen. The story that I write here to celebrate our Independence day is of " Women Entrepreneurs" that have been inspired by Sahyadri. As a Farmer Producer Company (FPC) Sahyadri Farms engages with farmers and their families improving their understanding of farming practices to ensure they have a produce that can compete amongst the best in the global markets. This region has been among the largest exporters of Grapes from India. They teach them to appreciate the need to embrace 'Sustainable Farming practices' to preserve our fragile ecosystem. There is so much to share, but getting back to our core focus " Women Entrepreneurs". For farmers to be able to tide unforeseen market conditions they are taught at Sahyadri, how to extend the shelf life of produce by processing it and ensuring more avenues to earn. One of ways that the Women Folk here have been trained is ' Solar Drying'. This is a setup that can be established in a small area with a meager investment. This has been a good source of income and also a source ' of economic independence to women here'. A conversation with these women left me inspired as they were aware of " Profit and Loss calculation" to help quote for the right prices they can supply their products. They do this through the technique of a " Pilot" work on small sample before they commit to taking an assignment. They traveled to Gujarat to have customized equipment to improve their efficiency. They impressed me the most by sharing they grew only and used only ' Organic Produce'. This was no hearsay, they knew what went into growing organically. They worked shoulder to shoulder on the farm with their husbands and have also perfected the subject. They were convinced on sustainability and the need and would not deter especially when it comes to quality. While the experience left me in awe, this is the True India !! The women empowered and shaping a ' Sustainable' tomorrow. "Salute the Spirit". You see below the Independent women shaping their destiny. The poly houses are used for Solar Drying and the Chemicals are naturally prepared for use in Sustainable farming. Thank Pramod Rajebhosale for helping me with the visit and helping me share my amazing experience. I shall be sharing more on Sahyadri but felt today on the auspicious moment of Independence Day this was a story to share....

While looking at field.....there r just few differences in between growers/traders perceptions and professionals perceptions.... Growers perception straight forward to make money...within the limits of their investment, available resources, limited available information and Management systems... Professional perception cannot be straight forward...seems little bit complicated but actually beneficial...scope of available information (wide), field status in general (patchy, uniform, crop parameters, quality, quantity and overall potential) mapping resources according to potential, trying to match inputs/management accordingly (climate, seed, crop, crop cycle, cultivar, soil, irrigation water, labor, capital etc), issues identification, recipes to match all, adaptation, documentation and fine tuning....automatically with increased efficiency "to make money and sustainability parts will be achieved". One cause too many ways will never help but distract all of us to reach at destination.... In Farming developed always Perfessional approach .

The Indian agrochemicals sector is witnessing a resurgence after experiencing a subdued performance during the Covid-19 pandemic, embarking on a trajectory of robust growth. As of 2024, the domestic agrochemicals market stands at an estimated $8.22 billion and is poised to reach $13.08 billion by 2029, boasting a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 4% during the forecast period (2024-2029). Recognizing the pivotal role of the agrochemical industry, the Indian government has identified it as one of the top 12 sectors to attain global leadership, with a projected growth rate of 8-10% through 2025, as reported by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). India currently holds the distinction of being the world’s fourth-largest producer of agrochemicals and the 12th largest exporter of chemicals (excluding pharmaceuticals). Notably, in 2022, data from the World Trade Organisation (WTO) revealed that India emerged as the second-largest exporter of agrochemicals globally, with key export destinations including China, Japan, Brazil, and the USA. This growth trajectory has yielded a significant trade surplus of Rs 28,908 crore in FY 2022-23, underscoring India’s potential to emerge as a global manufacturing hub. Several industry players, including Best Agrolife Ltd (BAL), a leading agrochemical producer, are making strategic moves to capitalize on this potential. BAL’s recent acquisition of Sudarshan Farm Chemicals India Pvt Ltd (SFCL), primarily for research and development (R&D) purposes and the creation of new business opportunities, is indicative of the industry’s proactive approach. This strategic move aims to enhance the brand’s business effectiveness and expand its market presence. According to the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), approximately 35% of India’s annual crop yield is lost due to pests, weeds, and diseases. Agrochemicals, including crop protection products and pesticides, play a crucial role in mitigating these losses by safeguarding crops against insects, diseases, and weeds. Fungicides, a key component of agrochemicals, are extensively utilized to combat fungal infections, thereby reducing crop damages. Globally, the fungicide market is projected to reach $22.92 billion by 2027, indicating substantial growth opportunities within the sector. However, the industry faces challenges such as stiff competition from cheap imports, particularly from China, which can impact profit margins for Indian producers. Moreover, global economic slowdowns and unpredictable weather patterns pose additional challenges by causing fluctuations in demand for agrochemicals. Despite these challenges, the Indian agrochemicals sector remains resilient, driven by innovation, strategic investments, and a favorable regulatory environment.
