And this is what we have been doing with a group of #farmers in #Bihar. And the results are promising. Something is better than nothing. As a part of Digital Initiative in Bihar under our partner organization, we deployed Yuktix GidaBits Solar powered Automatic weather station in the city of Samastipur, Bihar last month. The idea behind the deployment was to provide advisory to a group of farmers using data collected at the village level. To start with, we started sending advisories to farmers via SMS, WhatsApp, and IVR calls. And not just generic advisories, Weather Forecasts, Hyperlocal Disease, and insect forecasts ( for a few diseases and crops ). We will make it more specific and go for a crop-specific group of farmers. This is temporal data of multiple weather parameters that impact plant growth and the occurrence of diseases and insects.
