𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝, we all have seen our grandparents transition from being 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 for their daily needs due to health issues. It's a delicate shift that many families experience, often accompanied by both emotional and financial challenges. It might be shocking to you but according to a report by NCOA (National Council on Aging), nearly 𝟗𝟒.𝟗% 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝟔𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, while nearly 𝟕𝟖.𝟕% 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞. But the real problem is after spending decades making our own decisions and managing our lives, 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚 "𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧" 𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞. Yet, medical expenses force people to let go of their independence and live on a tight budget. From routine check-ups to unexpected hospitalizations, healthcare costs can quickly pile up. However, with comprehensive health insurance, you can 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭, 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐢𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧. In Indian culture, 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝑫𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒂. But wouldn't it be better if we could maintain our independence while still being surrounded by family? 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐠𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞, 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞. After all, the peace of mind that comes with being self-reliant is priceless, isn't it? #HealthInsurance #India #Family #SeniorCitizens #Parents #HealthCare #Bills #Hospital

𝑫𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒘𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒆 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒍? Because of the spine. Our school lessons taught us that the 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 is the backbone, an amazing structure that 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. It is 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡. It protects our delicate spinal cord, bears our body weight, and allows us to easily twist and bend. Without it, we'd be dangling like a Ragdoll. Once upon a time, back pain was considered an "𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦." But time has changed, and so have our spines. These days, it's not uncommon to see teenagers and young adults with back discomfort. The reason? Our 𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧, 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡-𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞. We're living in an era where 8-year-olds 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 and 20-somethings spend hours 𝐠𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐬. Even 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬, 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 can bring a spinal disaster. It's like we're aging our spines before their time! The consequences? The smallest spine disease can turn our lives upside down. 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐰, while 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚 𝐤𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤. 𝐎𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐞, making them as fragile as chalk. These conditions don't just cause pain; they can rob us of our mobility and independence. The financial burden of spine issues is equally back-breaking for the family members. 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 can add up faster than you can say "Ouch." However, having good insurance coverage can save you from the financial burden that comes with spine problems. And to address this issue every year the 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜 organises 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲 and this year's theme is "𝑺𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒀𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒏𝒆", which focuses on the importance of making small changes that add up to big results, with every stretch, every nutritious meal, and every minute of exercise. Your spine's got your back. So, 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒊𝒕'𝒔 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒗𝒐𝒖𝒓? #alpsinsurance #insurance #health #IRDAI #WorldSpineDay #Sports #Stress #MedicalBills

𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲 is the perfect occasion to 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 (𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈), the guardian of our nation's insurance sector. IRDAI began its journey in 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟗 by the recommendation of 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, headed by 𝐌𝐫. 𝐑. 𝐍. 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐫𝐚 but it became a full-fledged lawful entity in April 2000. But 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈 𝐝𝐨? In a nutshell, it's the guardian of India's insurance landscape. Its primary mission is threefold: 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 the orderly growth of the insurance industry. Now, you might wonder, "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐞?" Well, quite a lot. 𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈'𝐬 𝐨𝐛𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫. It works to protect your interests, foster healthy competition among insurers (which often translates to better services and prices for you), and maintain the financial stability of the insurance market. After all, what good is insurance if the company can't pay when you need it most? The structure of IRDAI is designed to bring diverse perspectives to the table. Appointed by the Government of India, 𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈’𝐬 𝟏𝟎 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞 𝒂 𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏, 𝒇𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒇𝒖𝒍𝒍-𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕-𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓𝒔. It's like a team of experts, each bringing their unique insights to shape the industry. But let's face it - even with the best regulations, disputes can arise. For that, 𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐝𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞, which works as a neutral referee between you and your insurer. If you find problems over claim settlements, insurance premiums, policy terms, or any legal aspects of your policy, the ombudsman is there to help resolve the issue fairly. 𝐀𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈. Their tireless efforts in maintaining and raising standards don't just make the insurance industry stronger - they provide us peace of mind, knowing when we need it most. #AlpsInsurance #InsuranceIndustry #IRDAI #Insurance #HealthInsurance #WorldStandardsDay #Claims #rejection

#BreastCancer 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 in the world, following #LungCancer. You see people all over the #internet posting about it, sharing their own stories and struggles. But most of the people don't even know what Breast Cancer is. So we should start straight from the basics, breast cancer is when some cells in the breast start to grow too much and form a lump or tumor. These cells can be harmful and spread to other parts of the body. In 2022, India saw 192,020 new #breastcancercases and 98,337 #deaths. This means about 13 out of every 100 cancer cases in India are breast cancer. It is often thought of as a women's disease. Although rare, but approximately 𝟏 𝐢𝐧 𝟖𝟑𝟑 𝐦𝐞𝐧 will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠? Changing lifestyles, including delayed childbearing, reduced breastfeeding, and increased obesity rates, are the main factors. In urban India, where these trends are more pronounced, the incidence rate is nearly double that of rural areas. What's particularly concerning is the #highmortalityrate. India was on the top of the list of most deaths due to breast cancer. This shows a crucial issue: while breast cancer is often treatable when detected early, many get to know about the disease in the advanced stages. The reasons for late diagnosis are complex like lack of awareness, limited access to screening facilities, and financial constraints. But what majorly impacts the survival rates are the financial barriers that make the problem worse. #Cancertreatment in India can cost between ₹2.5 lakhs to ₹20 lakhs, depending on the stage and type of treatment. As only about 37% of Indians have health insurance, the rest who live without any health insurance face disastrous out-of-pocket expenses. This often leads to delayed or incomplete treatment, which directly impacts survival rates. The challenges don't end with diagnosis and treatment. Breast cancer patients face a lot of 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥, 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐥𝐞𝐬. A study published in the Indian Journal of Palliative Care reported that 66.7% of breast cancer patients experienced moderate to severe depression. Despite these challenges, there's hope. Early detection significantly improves outcomes. Today, on Breast Cancer Awareness Day, let's address these interconnected issues to improve awareness, expand screening programs, and increase access to affordable treatment. Additionally, better health insurance coverage could reduce the financial burden and save thousands of lives. The #PinkRibbon has become an international symbol of breast cancer awareness. It represents hope, support, and the ongoing fight against this disease. The fight against breast cancer in India requires a multifaceted approach, addressing medical, social, and economic factors. By working together and raising awareness, we can make a significant impact in the battle against breast cancer.

[Part II of #MentalHealthMatters: Understand, Recognize, and Seek Help] #MentalHealthTreatments and support are crucial yet often overlooked. Millions suffer from mental health conditions, with 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐𝟖𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 globally. The #WorldHealthOrganization reports that one person dies from mental health issues every 40 seconds, (𝟕𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲), largely due to depression. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, mental health issues have surged alarmingly. A study in The Lancet reported a 𝟐𝟓% 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐱𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 globally in 2020. Symptoms can range from subtle changes, like shifts in sleep patterns, to severe issues such as persistent sadness or thoughts of self-harm. 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 #MentalHealthIssues 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞. For instance, even seemingly harmless apps can be stressors. Google Maps can spike anxiety with constant rerouting due to traffic, while LinkedIn might fuel feelings of inadequacy through endless job updates. Similarly, social media platforms like Instagram can warp self-image, and dating apps can damage self-esteem through the pressure of constant swiping. Even #PositiveChanges can be triggering. Got a promotion? The increased responsibility might bring unexpected stress. Started a new workout routine? The pressure to stick to it could spiral into an unhealthy obsession. The key is to be aware of your mental health, set boundaries with your apps and habits, and seek help when needed. The National Mental Health Survey 2015-16 revealed that 𝟏𝟓𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞, but fewer than 30 million seek help. While private therapy can be expensive, it’s essential to prioritize mental well-being. Fortunately, the government is implementing changes to make mental health support more accessible. The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (𝐈𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐈) 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 for mental health conditions in insurance policies, treating mental illnesses on par with physical illnesses. The government has also launched initiatives like the National Mental Health Programme and 𝐓𝐞𝐥𝐞-𝐌𝐀𝐍𝐀𝐒, a tele-mental health service, to provide support and resources. Their 24/7 available toll-free helpline number is 14416. Additionally, promoting #MentalHealthEducation in schools and workplaces helps reduce stigma and encourages open conversations. By focusing on prevention and early intervention, these efforts aim to create a supportive environment for individuals struggling with mental health issues. It’s crucial to know that help is available. By utilizing these resources, we can work together to foster a healthier society. Remember, 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐲. Don’t ignore the signs – seeking help is a sign of strength.

[Part I of #MentalHealthMatters: Understand, Recognize, and Seek Help] Have you ever noticed how easily we talk about a sprained ankle, asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, or the flu, but when it comes to mental health, the room always goes quiet? This silence isn't just awkward – it's actually harmful. You know millions of people struggle with #MentalHealthIssues every year, according to WHO globally around 𝟗𝟕𝟎 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, which is approximately 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝟏 𝐢𝐧 𝟖 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞, live with a #MentalHealthDisorder. Yet, many of them suffer in silence. Why? Because there's this persistent stigma surrounding mental health. It's like an invisible barrier that keeps people from speaking up and seeking help. Now, you might be wondering, "𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦?" Well, it's rooted in some pretty deep-seated misconceptions. Some folks still believe that having a mental health problem means you're weak, maybe there's something wrong with your character, bad parenting cause mental health issues, and some even think that there is no thing like mental health issues. But the fact is 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞, just like diabetes or asthma aren't choices. People often put off getting help because they're worried about what others might think. This delay can make their condition worse and recovery more challenging. In some cases, 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞-𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. But we can change this. In fact, we need to change this. It starts with conversations – just like the one we're having right now. By talking openly about mental health, we chip away at the stigma. When someone shares their story, it helps others realize they're not alone. It shows that recovery is possible. These stories encourage more people to reach out for help without feeling ashamed. It's also crucial to understand that 𝐯𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐧 mental health issues. Stress, traumatic events, drugs, alcohol, bad life experiences, sleep deprivation, loneliness, medical conditions, even social media – they can all play a role. By recognizing these factors, we can create more supportive environments and develop better ways to cope. Here's something to keep in mind: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫. A lot. The language we choose can either reinforce stigma or challenge it. So, let's be mindful of our words and speak about mental health with the same respect we give to #PhysicalHealth. #BreakingTheStigma around mental health doesn’t only mean being nice it also mean creating a space where everyone feels safe to seek help, where we 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐡𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡, and where no one has to suffer alone. Together, we can build a world that truly understands, accepts, and supports #mentalhealth.

𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒-𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 was presented by the 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝑵𝒊𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝑺𝒊𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒏, in Lok Sabha on the 23rd of July 2024. It was the highlight of everyone’s discussions for a while but it created quite a buzz since 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝑵𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏 𝑮𝒂𝒅𝒌𝒂𝒓𝒊 voiced his opinion on a clause of the union budget through a letter addressed to Nirmala Sitharaman. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥 𝟏𝟖% 𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 in the villages and the hand-to-mouth households, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐡 𝐢𝐬 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐤𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 “𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟒𝟕” in mind. Referring to the GST on life insurance Nitin Gadkari wrote “𝑳𝒆𝒗𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑮𝑺𝑻 𝒐𝒏 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒊𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒖𝒎𝒔 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒕𝒐 𝒍𝒆𝒗𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒂𝒙 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆.” Their words have power and a well-thought analysis of the possibilities and outcomes. Let’s understand this case with an example, think of it as you want to lose weight so your dietician suggests you cut down the refined carbs but you being you, you did not change your diet and even ate lots of sweets for the whole week giving out an excuse of Raksha Bandhan. What will happen to you? You will gain weight, which is quite the opposite of what you planned because you made the wrong decisions. Now, if we come back to the case of GST on life and health insurance, 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 reduce the cost of insurance premiums and make it more affordable, which will 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. 𝐋𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧 which might encourage more people to invest in insurance, therefore more people will have access to financial protection against life’s uncertainties and better health outcomes due to access to medical care. Moreover, 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐒𝐓 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭'𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 “𝑰𝒏𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒃𝒚 2047”.
