During the COVID years, the world was forced into isolation, and like so many others, I found myself working from home. What started as a temporary situation slowly turned into months of minimal human interaction, leaving me in a state of self-isolation. Days turned into weeks, and the routine that once gave me comfort gradually lost its joy. The boundaries between work and life blurred, and I could feel the weight of loneliness and disconnection creeping in. With limited social interaction and mounting stress, my mental health began to silently suffer. What I hadn’t anticipated was just how much this would affect my physical health too. As the months passed, I started gaining weight, eventually reaching 92 kilograms—an 18-kilogram increase from my pre-pandemic self. The reflection in the mirror no longer matched the person I once was, and the weight on my shoulders felt heavier than the number on the scale. But it wasn’t just the physical weight that was holding me down—the emotional toll of stress, isolation, and anxiety had taken its toll. Then came a moment of realization. It wasn’t just the extra weight that had shifted—it was everything inside of me. I understood that my mental and physical health were deeply connected. To regain my health, I knew I had to start by healing from within. Post-COVID, when the world began to open up again, I decided it was time to take control of my life. That’s when I discovered WeWork India’s collaboration with CultFit. The program offered exactly what I needed—a balance of community support, expert guidance, and structured fitness regimens. But it wasn’t just about fitness. For me, it was an emotional reset—a chance to reconnect with myself, rediscover my strength, and find a supportive community that had my back through every step of the journey. Through persistence and dedication, I transformed both my body and mind. I lost 20 kilograms, bringing my weight down to 72 kgs, and achieved a BMI of 24—a goal that once felt impossible during the darkest days of the pandemic. But more than that, I regained my confidence, my energy, and my sense of belonging. Looking back, I realize how interconnected mental and physical health truly are. 🌱 Speaking about mental illness openly, takes away its power. For as long as I can remember, I’ve battled anxiety and depression. In my journey of understanding these mental illnesses, I’ve learned that normalizing the conversation around them is the first step toward healing. But healing also requires a safe space where vulnerability is welcomed, and that’s what I’ve found at WeWork India Being part of a company that prioritizes mental well-being as much as work goals has been life-changing. The culture at WeWork India allows me to show up as my authentic self every day, and this acceptance has made a huge difference in my journey. I enrolled in our Well-being #ERG (Employee Resource Group), where we focus on mental and physical health. Becoming an ERG champion has given my work meaning beyond just a paycheck. It fuels my passion for breaking the stigma around mental illness, offering a helping hand to anyone in need. The support I’ve received, especially now as I manage life with my ailing dog (who has prostate cancer), has been immense. The flexibility to work remotely allows me to be with him during these final weeks. Without this, I don't think I could have balanced work and my personal life with peace of mind. Through the ERG, I’ve turned my weakness into strength. And if by speaking out, I’ve helped just one person, then that’s my legacy. 🌱 Mental Health Day Reflection 🌱 Leaving home at a young age and moving around frequently shaped my journey in many ways. While I appreciate the diverse experiences and lessons learned, I often struggled to find a place where I truly felt at home. That changed when I moved to India and joined WeWork India. For the first time, I feel a genuine sense of belonging. I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the WeWork community. The support I receive from my manager and peers has been invaluable and I feel accepted for my true self. Engaging in various roles, projects, and ERGs has deepened my understanding of myself and has helped me identify my passions and strengths, giving me clarity about what I want to pursue. I also want to highlight the impact of our employee benefits. They allowed me to access therapy and enroll in a coaching course, both of which have been instrumental in my personal growth. I've always been my own harshest critic, but I’m actively working to shift that narrative and cultivate a more positive self-view. Through therapy and my training to become a coach, I’m learning to embrace self-compassion and find peace within myself. This journey continues to transform how I see myself and my potential.
