Technopark, Trivandrum, an autonomous society promoted by the Government of Kerala, is India's first technology park and is among the largest IT parks in India today. It is registered under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955. This is a CMMI Level 4, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OSHAS 18001:2007 Certified Technology Park. Technopark came into existence in 1990, in the capital city of Kerala - Thiruvananthapuram. Spread over 768.63 acres of land area in five phases, with about 12.72 million sq. ft. of built-up space and 1.2 million sq. ft. of area in progress, Technopark hosts over 490 IT and ITES companies. This is including 6 CMMI Level 5, 2 CMMI Level 3 and several ISO 9000 certified companies, employing over 75,000 IT Professionals.     Thiruvananthapuram: The capital city of Kerala has an excellent social fabric, and the city cares through comprehensive multi-purpose institutes like National Institute of Speech and Hearing, Karimanal, Akkulam, Thiruvananthapuram (NISH) that focusses on the identification, intervention, rehabilitation and education of Persons with Disabilities Recently, the Technopark team visited the bustling campus of the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH). Established in 1997 with a big vision, NISH has grown from a small initiative to a vital institution offering higher education opportunities to Persons with Disabilities. NISH has made significant contributions to improving the quality of life of persons with disabilities and has taken a pioneering effort in implementing various programs for the disabled population across the state. NISH hosts a unique inclusive campus that has students and staff with diverse abilities. Their mission is to empower Persons with Disabilities to achieve their full potential through education, create employment opportunities, and contribute towards their social upliftment. During the visit, Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark, had a productive interaction with Dr. suja kunnath, Executive Director (ED) of NISH. Together, they toured the campus, exploring the computer labs, library equipped with assistive technology solutions, and various classrooms, including the Department of Academic Intervention Programs. The sprawling 10-acre campus is currently home to around 587 students. The discussions focused on creating a conducive environment that integrates these students into everyday life and providing them with meaningful opportunities in the workforce. Internships and on-the-job training were key topics, with the ED recalling alumni who have successfully found employment at organizations like UST, RR Donnelley, and Envestnet, Inc. The Alumni Wall of Honour of the Early Intervention Program (EIP) at the institute also boasts of many shining examples of students from the institute who are exceedingly doing well in their chosen fields of employment. Also present at the meeting were Dr. Raji Gopal, HOD Degree HI; Soja Oliver, Administrative Officer NISH; Rakesh P. S, Lecturer; Shiju R V, Lecturer; Daisy Sebastian, Coordinator of Academic & Intervention Programs; and George Jacob, Assistant Manager Marketing, Technopark. This collaboration reinforces Thiruvananthapuram's strength in its social fabric, reaffirming our commitment to innovate, grow together, and foster inclusive growth ecosystems in a sustainable environment within the city and state.     Kerala Super League: Technopark hosts promotional event The Capital city, an Emerging Technology Hub is also becoming a sports hub. As the football mania is set to grip the state with the inaugural Super League Kerala (SLK) 2024 on September 7, Technopark, the country’s first IT Park, today hosted an exciting promotional event of the franchise-styled tournament. The all-Kerala event, titled ‘Super Pass Relay,’ was organized by Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC, one of the six teams of the SLK, to permeate the spirit of the game as well as the thrilling action on cards in the tournament. Receiving the ‘Super Pass Relay,’ Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO, Technopark, said the capital city is not only an emerging technology hub but also a sports hub. “The city has already been established globally in tourism and IT sectors with stupendous achievements over the years. Now that a team is representing the capital city in Super League Kerala 2024, it is going to be a decisive step towards the city being transformed into a sports hub,” he said. He also wished Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC to perform well in the tournament. Founder CEO of Technopark Shri G. Vijaya Raghavan, Technopark officials and employees of various companies were also present. ‘Super Pass Relay’, which was kicked off in Kasaragod on August 17, will travel through all the districts before concluding in Kochi on September 7. Calicut FC, Kannur Warriors FC, Forca Kochi FC, Malappuram FC, Thiruvananthapuram Kombans FC and Thrissur Magic FC are the six franchises that will feature in the inaugural SLK. The SLK 2024 matches will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Malappuram District Sports Complex Stadium in Manjeri, Kozhikode’s EMS Corporation Stadium and Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram.     Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala, embodies the spirit of research and development in the country with premier research centers such as the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Thiruvananthapuram Recently, the Technopark team visited the IISER TVM campus, located alongside the enchanting foothills of Western Ghats. This campus, one of the most picturesque in India, spans about 200 acres at Vithura, Thiruvananthapuram. Nestled at the foothills of the Agasthyamalai hills, the campus includes a substantial tract of eco-friendly infrastructure contiguous with the Agasthyamala Biosphere Reserve. The buildings are set amidst lush greenery, providing a breathtaking setting for research & academic work. During the visit, Professor Jarugu Narasimha Moorthy, Director of IISER, and Prof. S. Murty Srinivasula, Deputy Director of IISER, interacted with Col Sanjeev Nair (Retd), CEO of Technopark, and had a tour of the campus. They explored various innovative & fantabulous research labs, classrooms including academic and student facilities, the health center, guest house, sports complex and more. The team visited the state-of-the-art Integrated Clean Energy Materials Acceleration Platform (IC-MAP) on STORAGE, a consortium dedicated to developing solid-state battery technology. Following the tour, there was a detailed discussion with the Heads of Departments (HODs) of the institute about potential collaboration opportunities and the rich talent pool available that could greatly benefit the industry. The availability of such highly skilled talent pool (STEM field) in Thiruvananthapuram can extend excellent industry academia connect for the digital ecosystem in Technopark, and was a key highlight of the discussion. Also present at the discussion were Prof. Mahesh Hariharan, Registrar, Prof Joy Mitra Dean (Academic Affairs), Prof K. George Thomas Dean (Faculty Affairs), Dr R. S. Swathi Associate Dean (R&D, Consultancies), Prof Kana M. Sureshan Dean (Infrastructure and Planning) Prof Utpal Manna Dean (Student Affairs), Dr Vinesh Vijayan Associate Dean (Academic Affairs), Dr. Ravi Maruthachalam School of Biology - (Associate Professor), Dr. M M Shaijumon (Professor) School of Physics, Dr. Ajay Venugopal (Associate Professor) School of Chemistry, Dr. Arun (Associate Professor) School of Mathematics, Dr. Anil Shaji (Professor) School of Data Science and School of Earth Environment & Sustainability Sciences along with George Jacob Assistant Manager Marketing Technopark. The aim of the meeting was to explore Thiruvananthapuram's strength in terms of the availability of excellent talent through its premier institutes and to reaffirm the commitment to collaborate, innovate, and grow together.
