During Syngenta's Global CEO Jeff Rowe’s recent visit to India, he witnessed and participated in a series of programs including projects designed to reinforce our commitment to environmental stewardship and support small-holder farmers. Jeff’s visit also included meeting farmers involved in our Climate-Smart Agriculture initiatives. . He witnessed first-hand how our initiatives are enhancing soil health and optimising resource use. Another notable aspect of the visit was showcasing Happy Seeder technology, designed to address the critical issue of crop residue burning. This innovation significantly reduces air pollution and enhances soil health by managing crop residues effectively. Additionally, Jeff Rowe participated in a live agricultural drone demonstration by Nisha Solanki, first women drone pilot in Haryana. She showcased how this tool can improve efficiency in crop protection. We are grateful to Dr SK Yadav, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Driishya who faciliated the live demonstration to showcase agricultural drone technology in India and its effectiveness. During his visit, Jeff also witnessed the demonstration of digital apps and services, such as CropWise Grower App, Crop Doctor features making a positive impact by providing farmers with real-time solutions and expert agronomy advice. These efforts are part of our broader strategy to align with India’s National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture. Strengthening agri-innovation through collaboration for farmers' prosperity We are proud to announce our collaboration with two key government institutions, ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI) and Choudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU). We have signed two landmark Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) yesterday in Karnal and Hisar respectively. Both the collaborations highlight our commitment to advancing sustainable farming practices and enhancing farmers' productivity for the farmers in Haryana. These MoUs are significant in our journey to support farmers and promote diversified, sustainable agriculture. This recognition celebrates the incredible success of our Syngenta Drone Yatra which started in 2022, aiming to reach rural communities across India, covering 17, 000 KM in 13 states. The Yatra showcased the power of cutting-edge agricultural technology to create awareness about the potential of using drones in agriculture and empower farmers. On his recent visit to India, Jeff Rowe, Global CEO of Syngenta, travelled to Karnal, Haryana, to see firsthand the impact of Syngenta’s innovative projects in the country. From advanced soil health analysis techniques that optimise fertiliser use and reduce reliance on urea, to technologies tackling crop residue burning, these efforts are addressing environmental challenges while improving soil health. In an exclusive conversation with Naini Thaker of Forbes India, Jeff Rowe shared why India remains a key market for Syngenta and how the company is addressing global agricultural challenges. His vision is to make Syngenta the leading innovation engine in agriculture, delivering world-class technologies to farmers as efficiently as possible. Syngenta India launches I RISE to empower rural youth in agriculture across the country We're happy to announce the launch of I RISE program today, a uniquely designed CSR initiative, aimed at transforming rural agriculture in presence of Jeff Rowe, Syngenta Global CEO who is on a 2-day maiden trip to India. This was launched in presence of our MD & Country Head, Susheel Kumar and other senior leaders in New Delhi. I RISE (Inculcating Rural India Skill Enhancement) is built on the 3Es approach: Educate, Engage, and Elevate, ensuring sustainable livelihoods. Educate youth in agriculture through training and mentorship; Engage them through employment and entrepreneurship opportunities; and Elevate their livelihood income. Aimed at becoming a safety net for rural prosperity in India, I RISE will focus on training and engaging rural youth in agriculture. It is designed to curb youth migration from villages and address the growing challenge of dwindling skilled farm personnel. I RISE will train over 1 lakh rural youth in agriculture related livelihood opportunities, equipping them with the skills needed for the future. Under this initiative, youth will receive 30 days of classroom training and a 2-month internship, opening doors to employment in agriculture, micro-business, and more. Afterward, they can pursue advanced training or seek employment in the agricultural supply chain, micro-business, or farming activities. The CEO praised India's progress in agriculture and highlighted government's initiatives, such as Skill India and the National Skill Development Mission, as pivotal for rural prosperity.
