🌱 Transforming Tradition into Sustainability in Telangana 🌱 As we celebrate #GaneshChaturthi, a festival that honors new beginnings and the removal of obstacles, we at SowandReap are thrilled to announce a transformative program on this auspicious day. For generations, farmers in Telangana, followed an age-old practice. After reaping their cotton harvest, they would set the remaining stalks ablaze. A simple solution for clearing the land, yet one with unseen consequences—each fire releasing tons of CO2 into the air, adding to a growing environmental concern. But something changed. Raju, Krishna, Lalitha, Narasimhulu, and many others were about to find a new way forward. No longer would the plant waste turn to smoke. Instead, it would transform into something far more valuable—a resource that could enrich their soil, sustain their farms, and even heal the environment. The answer lay in what they called "#BlackGold"—#Biochar. A remarkable process turned the very waste they used to burn into something that could nourish the earth. What once contributed to the problem now became the solution. And behind this quiet revolution is "SowandReap," working hand in hand with these farmers to convert tons of cotton waste into something the land can treasure. We are collaborating with farmers to collect crop stubble post-harvest, converting it into biochar at our pyrolysis plants at Parigi, Vikarabad Dist, enhancing soil fertility and water retention. This environmentally friendly alternative to burning not only enriches the soil but also helps sequester carbon. We're also proud to share that our #Biochar has been tested by the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, revealing an impressive carbon content of approximately 81%, confirming its predominantly organic nature and highlighting its environmental benefits.
