    Nikhilesh has kind eyes. That’s the first thing you’ll notice if you meet Nikhilesh, our Beauty Advisor at the Purplle Store in Esplanade Mall, Gurgaon. In a business that’s built on making people feel beautiful, kind eyes are important. Eyes that don’t make you feel judged, but instead, help you find beauty in your own skin. We asked Nikhilesh how he came to join the beauty industry. “I have always been in love with makeup”, he says with a shy smile. “Ever since I was a kid, I was interested in watching makeup videos online & trying different looks. I wanted to become a Makeup Artist! But I had to join the workforce at a very young age and I ended up working in a retail store. Thankfully, my love for beauty finally led me to Purplle. An opportunity to be surrounded by beauty products was too good to miss. So, here I am!” We asked him how he likes working in retail. “I like helping people. When someone comes to me with a skin concern or asks for my guidance on a makeup product, I feel like a teacher guiding them. Helping someone feel good about themselves, is a good feeling.” In a female-dominated industry, Nikhilesh is among the few Beauty Advisors who chose a career that’s not typically associated with men. “It was not easy at first”, he says. “I used to do my own makeup in the privacy of my home, when no one was watching. But in this role, I was asked to wear makeup in public. Something I had not done before. So, I was hesitant at first, wondering what people would think of me. But slowly, my hesitation started to fade away. My family and friends have been very supportive of me and that’s how I started finding confidence in makeup. Joining Purplle finally gave me the confidence to express myself the way I always wanted to.” Nikhilesh is lucky. Because while beauty can be truly empowering, men who love makeup are judged and ridiculed for their choices even today. Even the men who work in the beauty industry are burdened with crossing a threshold of hesitation, all because they like some kohl in their eyes and some colour on their cheeks. We spoke to Swatti Kumar who hires and trains our offline staff and here’s what she had to say, “I’m happy to say that there are many more people like Nikhilesh who’ve found a safe space with us. As a people-first ecosystem, we obsess over intent and customer-centricity, two key factors while hiring for our sales force. And we strongly believe that to make our customers feel beautiful, our people need to first feel beautiful themselves. Which is why, we encourage our Beauty Advisors to explore and enjoy their beauty, their way.” At Purplle, we believe that beauty is for all. That it is meant to be enjoyed by everyone, without any barriers. So, here’s to every Nikhilesh who finds confidence in makeup and continues to celebrate it his way. Because Dussehra, while being a huge celebration in India, is celebrated in different ways across the nation. But then we thought, beauty can unify people in more ways than one! We let our imagination flow and it led us here. In identifying the need to remind people that Support looks Beautiful as well. And so, this box celebrates the incredible men who support and encourage the women around them to be brave, independent, and fearless. We are so glad you liked it. 💜

    With the festive season sale in full swing and Durga Pooja right around the corner. I have been frequently checking for offers and discounts. The usual routine is I receive my package and quickly open it to try the products. That changed today. 😁 This outer packaging got my attention and stopped me from looking for the scissors right away.     What happens when you stop liking your work? Do you keep pushing through? Or do you take a leap of faith and dive into the unknown? Well, Tushar chose the latter. Meet Tushar Bajaj, a sales and marketing whiz who joined us as an intern despite 6 years of corporate experience and within a period of 3 months, transitioned into a full-time role in the HR department. His story is one of grit and ambition. He recounts his conversation with the Hiring Manager that eventually led him to take up an internship at Purplle. “She said that the team was looking for someone well versed in reading data and social interaction, a unique mixture of skills that I felt I possessed. This truly piqued my interest.” Tushar, who is also pursuing a Master’s degree from TISS, saw this internship as an opportunity to apply his academic knowledge in a practical setting.  “At a time when I was actively seeking to transition in my career, Purplle provided me with the perfect platform to do so.” He was offered a chance to take ownership of projects and implement initiatives from the ground up. -   Leveraging his background in the insurance sector, along with his sales experience and industry connections, he ensured a successful renewal of the organization’s insurance policy which was due within a month after he joined. He navigated this complex process efficiently, ensuring everything was in place and on time. -   During this process, he realised the need for an automation process for contract staff who were used to providing cost calculations in different formats. He created a master dashboard that streamlined and automated the whole process, allowing the team to focus on more strategic tasks. This freedom to experiment in a culture of continuous learning along with the support from his team members has been a driving force for Tushar. “Each day offers me a chance to learn and grow, something that I value immensely. The opportunity to be a part of projects from the start to the finish gives me a sense of achievement. But what makes Purplle truly special are the people. The team is highly supportive, driven, and collaborative. They made my transition from an intern to a full-time employee a seamless experience and I’m excited to see where it takes me.” When asked for a comment, his manager, Jincey Jacob said, “At Purplle, we value passion and the willingness to learn above all else. He did not let his prior work experience come in the way of exploring something new. This fire in the belly is what made us confident about hiring Tushar.” Tushar’s journey with Purplle hasn’t been about completing tasks - it has been about development and growth. So far, we've delivered Bonalu Boxes in Andhra & Telangana, Rakshabandhan Boxes in the Northern belt of India, Onam boxes to our friends in Kerala, Ganesh Chaturthi Boxes to the people of Maharashtra, and will soon be dispatching our Navratri, Pujo, and Dussehra boxes in different parts of the country. These boxes are on a mission to bring joy to our customers and to let them know that like them, we too take pride in our heritage.
