    Inventing or Adopting: The Dilemma of Methodology. With the buzz around new trends in business and personal development, It’s easy to “think outside the box.” I mean, innovation does facilitate progress, doesn’t it? And yet… I’ll let you in on a secret. In reality, the most effective way to move forward doesn’t necessarily imply coming up with, literally, novel ideas. On the contrary, it may very well involve repeating and revising some previously successful acts. Let’s put it this way: when you face a problem or set a goal, does your first thought dig into creating an unprecedented solution? Or do you take a second to look back at what’s already been done with it? I’m not undermining the value of groundbreaking innovations and initiatives. Yet, I am convinced that the possibility to save yourself some time, energy, and effort with a proven method is seriously underrated. Put another way, whether you're inventing the wheel or applying an already proven formula, the main thing is to drive. Inventing the wheel can be an intense, risky, and resource-intensive process with no guarantee of success. On the other hand, replicating proven methods allows you to benefit from the errors or successes of industry professionals without having to make them yourself, by partnering directly with 'giant' people. As previously stated, the best approach depends on your target clients, resources, and risk tolerance. However, many specialists today applaud a hybrid process, which combines individual elements of creation and imitation. So, the next time you find yourself at a crossroads, ask yourself: Am I inventing the wheel, or am I replicating proven methods?
