Monthly and weekly subscription based shared electric autos for your daily commute.

About us

MyPickup provides subscription based electric auto-rickshaw service for daily commutes to office-goers, school children, etc. With this idea we aim to disrupt the way people go to their workplace/school everyday. There are 3 problems we are trying to solve with this service 1. Cab booking time (10-12 min per day), Cab cancellations and acceptance during peak hours is a huge issue for daily commuters 2. School buses across Indian schools are under-utilized assets. Thus almost 30% of the annual education cost goes into student transportation 3. 3-wheeler ICE (Diesel/CNG/LPG) based autos which are plying in Indian cities release anywhere between ~1m to 2m tons of CO2 annually along with hazardous NO2 and PM 10

One less thing to cry about in Bangalore? Besides paying rent and no water and adulting...? Read on👇 A few weeks ago, I had written about the auto+cabs scene in Bangalore. More specifically that I never find an auto. Imagine getting ready for office by 11 am... And your office is just 5 km away... You expect to reach within 15 minutes, right? Nope, because you forgot to factor in finding an auto. So the hunt starts at 11 am and ends at 11:55 am (only if the driver doesn't cancel xD) In fact, I was told to not wear socks before booking an auto (as the superstition goes) Unfortunately, none of that worked. However, I've found an alternative. MyPickup - what a lovely company with amazing staff! Their TIMELY pickup (!!!) is everything for me. And the same driver picks me up everyday so safety isn't an issue anymore. And I can reschedule and cancel whenever I want. And, my favourite thing about this 4 member startup? They do their user research well. In fact, my favourite thing to do at Meesho was user research. So, if you're looking for scheduled pickups, do consider their services!! PS - This is an unsponsored post.

I invest time, network, & capital in curious early-stage ideas. Got one? Pitch, please!

MyPickup is on a Quest to transform Indian mobility through weekly and monthly subscription-based shared electric rides for daily commutes. https://www.mypickup.in It gives Suresh Kothari and me immense joy to collaborate with Abhijeet and the team to bring about a meaningful and timely change to the status quo. India’s mobility ecosystem has been hurtling towards an inflection point for some time. Here's some of the lowdown we are all aware of: 1️⃣ The first and last-mile experiences of public transport remain broken by design, 2️⃣ Congestion, in and out of the vehicles, remains a problem, 3️⃣ Aggregators continue to offer substandard customer experiences, be it cab availability, the ride, the hassles of cancellation, or the surge pricing, 4️⃣ Drivers continue to undercut Aggregators to go into business on their own (“cancel and pay me cash”), 5️⃣ At the same time, gig drivers and auto-wallahs have their own challenges with cancellations, unstable monthly incomes, high vehicle maintenance, and frustrated riders. 6️⃣ On-time unavailability of P2P rides at peak time remains a challenge As Dara wakes up to the rude Indian awakening, Bhavish maintains a full plate with EV and AI, and hard-working, purpose-driven folks like Kiran continue to suffer, the need and the opportunity to innovate in this space has never been clearer or more compelling; though daunting. Our humble investment will give Abhijeet & Co. the bandwidth to continue refining the proposition to seize this opportunity and roll out the red carpet to #investors for the ongoing seed round. In addition, we are open to investing in up to a hundred fleet assets via a leasing model in the next thirty-six months—more when the paradigm expands to additional urban centers outside Bengaluru. Success or failure aren’t foregone conclusions. Nothing is at this stage of the startup journey. Ideas are cheap, insight is rare, and execution is rarer. The insight is clear, the idea is there, and early signs point to a team that can execute it if they play their cards right. I expand upon it in our high-level reflections (out soon on my substack) The conditions are ripe for the proposition to succeed. Moreover, it has adjacencies and appeal outside India too. -- As investors, our job is to see if a mighty oak is hidden in the acorn of startup ideas. If so, we invest in the vision of what that oak can look like when fully grown. We believe there’s a sky-piercing oak hidden inside MyPickup. It’s an idea whose time has come. Whether you are: 1️⃣ a #VC operating with mobility, climate tech, consumer business, or sector-agnostic theses, 2️⃣ an OEM building in #EV space, 3️⃣ a #FinTech innovating asset financing, or 4️⃣ a fellow commuter who has felt the pains and identifies with MyPickup’s value proposition, connect with Abhijeet and tag someone in the comments who you know will support this idea. I invest time, network, & capital in curious early-stage ideas. Got one? Pitch, please!

Clear, concise, compelling: a recipe for Page 1 of your startup's pitch. -- Pitch, please! Don't sleep on that Page 1! At its worst, Page 1 should invite the prospects to learn more. At its best, it should give you the license to live rent-free in people's minds. And yet I keep seeing these great ideas wrapped up in less-than-par pitch covers. Like it or not, people judge a book by its cover; first impressions can often be the last. You must make Page 1 (and in fact the whole doc) clear, concise, and compelling! Some ideas on how: *️⃣ Simple and clean: Don't overload the cover with too much text or too many graphics. *️⃣ Focus and Branding: Include the company name and logo prominently. But it can't be just that. I reviewed the pitch of a startup aiming to disrupt the software procurement process in the Health Industry. Here's what Page 1 said: <startup name> | "Pitch Deck" | <Founders' Names & Roles> | Address. Not a clue about what the startup does (see next point) or why it should matter (see the point after next). *️⃣ The What: Short, one-sentence, jargon-free, 'for dummies' description of what the company does. Avoid taglines that don't tell your prospect EXACTLY what your stuff does or help folks ease into your idea: "Co-pilot for CFOs..." (ain't flying no plane bud) "JARVIS for sales rep" (too filmy, too broad, and JARVIS is a CRM Brand Name) "Connecting the world's buyers and sellers" (too generic) "Computing Biotherapeutic Solvers Through Applied Games (to the point but too technical for most) *️⃣ The USP/Impact/Benefits: Include only the most vital descriptors. These can also include metrics on efficiency (cost savings, time savings et cetera). I find this element missing in most pitches that come my way. Tell me why should your startup matter? Why does it stand out? -- Then there are some context-based additions or replacements you can make depending on where you are in your startup journey. *️⃣ Replace or complement the description and USP with strategic social proof (e.g., a well-known industry leader's review that does both) *️⃣ 'Trusted by' footnote if your product is in use at your prospect's other investments or industry players with gravitas. *️⃣ Traction/financial/other metrics if they are likely to pop 'em eyes. These are riskier moves but you can give them some thought if they aid the logic of 'clear, concise, compelling'. -- In that sense, I like how MyPickup introduces itself (see attached). It's no-nonsense and clear on the benefits. The background could be more low-key but ultimately Abhijeet & Co. have weaved together the offering, the product/service snapshot, and the USP coherently. Clear, concise, compelling. -- #pitchplease from my ongoing interactions with founders.

We have covered 15,475 km in electric autos since the launch of operations in Aug 2023 saving ~3000kgs of Co2 Eq gases to go into the atmosphere 🍃 Though today, customers are not ready to pay a premium for travelling in an electric vehicle, they do enjoy the feeling of doing good for the environment. At similar price points, electric is bound to win ✌ We are increasing our all-electric fleet size every month. We have added 2 new Mahindra Treo SFT vehicles to our fleet this month. Best feature which reduces driver anxiety is DTE (Distance to Empty) displayed on the dashboard which is fairly accurate.
