"Anybody who is coming to Germany, and there are a lot of people who write to me on LinkedIn, first thing that I tell them: Be prepared. Maybe start taking classes already. If you’re serious about wanting to settle down, you need to learn German."

How important is work culture after you complete your study abroad? Workplaces in every country have a different vibe and expectations. In Germany, the work culture is deeply influenced by the concept of "Feierabend," which refers to the end of the workday and the beginning of “rest”. In the UK on the other hand, the work culture is fast-paced and results-driven. The country is known for having longer work hours than other European countries. Across the ocean is a different story altogether, as U.S. work culture focuses on a competitive spirit and professional growth. Hence, people tend to work longer, but with more flexible work hours. What a student chooses should depend on their personality and motivations, but prior knowledge of their future employer's culture forms an extremely important part of your post-study abroad success.

The recently released Quality of Life report by HSBC shows that Indian parents' desire to send their children abroad is even higher than that of planning for retirement and a secure future. Studying abroad has always been an aspirational idea for many Indians, especially as financing has become easier in recent years. The quality of #overseaseducation was the primary reason listed by parents for considering overseas education, followed closely by the possibility to specialise in an area. Do you think the desire to send children abroad to study keeps rising amongst Indians? Let us know in the comments.
