Electronics and mechanical engineering talent is in demand, especially in the automotive industry, Rica Bhattacharyya reports for The Economic Times. Citing Quess Digital Engineering data, the report says that electronics engineering talent is sought after across industries, with a focus on AI, ML, and Cloud Computing integration. Meanwhile, mechanical engineering is seeing a demand for CAD specialists and CAE experts. As the automotive industry gears up for the EV and autonomous vehicle revolution, it is also looking for experts in electric powertrains, infotainment, and ADAS, said Krishna Agrawal (Kishan), VP of Quess Digital Engineering. Overall, engineers will be in demand across India's tech sector, reports Business Standard. The industry will need more than one million engineers with advanced skills in AI, data analytics, and cybersecurity over the next two to three years, according to nasscom's Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer Sangeeta Gupta. Another report by The Economic Times says that demand for software engineers trained in emerging technologies is on the rise, according to Teamlease Digital. Emerging roles include AI Ethics Officer, Quantum Computing Engineer, Edge Computing Engineer, Blockchain Developer, Data Privacy Engineer, DevSecOps Engineer, Cloud Native Developer, and Robotics Control Engineer. BRITISH TELECOM (BT) is planning to hire 1,000 people in India by the end of this year, Ashutosh Kumar reports for The Economic Times. Harmeen Mehta, Chief Digital and Innovation Officer at the BT Group, says that out of the 1,000 professionals, 600 will be hired for its digital unit. The team leads digital transformation and creates products and services, the report says. Around 40% of BT’s tech talent is based in India, Mehta adds. The company has 14,000 employees overall across the country, with offices in Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. Last year, BT had announced that it will reduce its headcount by 40%, or 55,000 employees, but the impact on India is yet to be assessed, the report adds. With the launch of its first GenAI Studio in Chennai, digital engineering services provider Ascendion is looking to hire 180 freshers from colleges across the city, The New Indian Express reports. The US-based firm plans to quadruple its headcount in the coming years, CEO Karthik Krishnamurthy says. “The focus is on AI impacting lives,” he shares, adding that the engineers are being trained to also become consumers of AI. More global capability centres are also coming up across the country, paving the way for job opportunities for early career professionals, Riya Tandon reports for The Economic Times. Tech roles in AI/Machine Learning, data analytics, cybersecurity, full stack and UI/UX, and cloud computing/blockchain are in demand, the report says further. Earlier, Tech Mahindra had announced plans for hiring 6,000 freshers in the FY25, while HCLTech also shared plans to onboard 10,000 young graduates in the same period, moneycontrol reports. Setting up its new technology excellence centre in Hyderabad, fintech company CASHe also plans to add 300 new hires across experience levels in domains like technology, data science, and Machine Learning, among others.
