I have heard about Devansh Jain of Inox Wind Ltd. from Anas Rahman Junaid before, but it was great to listen to him speak in this fireside chat at the 2024 Barclays Private Clients Hurun India Most Respected Family Business Awards.
What a story.
Launched a new, untested business in his early 20s despite having the opportunity to join one of the existing well established INOX group businesses. Fought for ₹10 crores of seed capital. Family thought he was crazy.
5 years later? Took it to IPO at 28. Largest company in the group at ₹5,000 crores revenue.
Then everything crashed. A single regulatory change wiped out 33 players in the sector. ₹3,500 crores in debt. 400 legal cases. Mass resignations.
Most would've given up. He didn't.
Today: ₹53,000 crores market cap. Zero haircuts to creditors.
His playbook:
• Execute relentlessly
• Stay paranoid about risks
• Under-promise, over-deliver
• Keep taking calculated bets, no matter how big you get
Best part? Zero sugar-coating. Just raw insights from someone who's been through fire.
