𝐍𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐌𝐮𝐤𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 (𝐍𝐌𝐀𝐂𝐂), Mumbai, designed by Richard Gluckman & TVS Atlanta Located in the city's central precinct of Bandra Kurla Complex, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) is a unique multi-disciplinary space designed to ignite artistic curiosity within the community. It serves as a platform to showcase India's rich art and culture to both artists and the public. Nita Ambani, philanthropist and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation established the centre to preserve and promote Indian arts. It is part of the Jio World Centre complex in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex.  The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre is a modern interpretation of Indian design, inspired by art, craft, and people. The centre has large open rooms, plenty of natural light, and calm nooks that encourage creative thought. Traditional lotus motifs, semi-precious stones, excellent jaali work, and luscious jewel tones provide a strong connection between the community and varied creative forms in the design language.   The Grand Theatre, a 2000-seat venue on three levels accommodates big touring shows. It bills itself as the "most technologically advanced theatre in India," and its design has over 8,400 Swarovski crystals. The use of a specific absorbent wood that decreases reflections is one of the theatre's standout characteristics.  The four-story dedicated art space of the Jio World Centre is located adjacent to the Fountain of Joy and is intended to display global and Indian art through a variety of installations and shows. The front of the Cultural Centre, a larger-than-life cuff bracelet design, reflects India's rich heritage. The modular façade, with 16,000 square feet of configurable space constructed to global museum criteria, allows for simple installation. The venue is appropriate not only for art but also for technology programmes, workshops, and educational activities.   Text: Geethu Gangadhar Image Credits: NMACC / TVS Atlanta Visit www.architecture.live

ISKCON Temple at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, by Sanjay Puri Architects / Sanjay Puri The site for ISKCON Temple is located in Gandhinagar, Gujarat has a very hot and semi-arid climate with an average temperature of 41⁰C. Contemporary visual styles with organization and circulation principles of ancient India form the design-ideology. The project strives to let the large structure be perceived by lightness by strategically fragmenting the entire structure into visually captivating sub-structures defining its rising form. Punctured Jali corridors flank an open air holy water body that mirrors the temple in its clear waters. Unbuilt: Aanganwadi at Calicut, by [ar&de] [ar&de] proposed the aanganwadi's design as an educational space that could also cater to women and other members of the community. Anganwadis function under the government’s Women Development and Child Welfare Department and cater to the needs of these two segments of society. While the space requires to be used on a daily basis as a kindergarten-like learning space for children of 3-6 years, as an institution it is also meant to be a place where numerous other government schemes and initiatives are accessed by women, infants, etc on an occasional, regular or on a one-off basis. This particular project by [ar&de] was to be jointly funded by the government and an NGO named Acton and is on a 7 cents riverside site.
