🚀 Larsen & Toubro (L&T), India's top private defense manufacturer by revenue, is gearing up to expand its aerospace division to capture a larger share of India's rapidly growing private #SpaceSector. The shift comes as the Indian government actively opens its traditionally state-led space industry to private players. With ISRO’s recent successes in the #Chandrayaan3 and #AdityaL1 missions, companies with deep engineering expertise like L&T see opportunities to bolster India's capabilities in commercial satellite launches. 🌌 L&T’s Senior Vice President AT Ramchandani highlighted the company's 50-year relationship with #ISRO as a key advantage in their move toward manufacturing #LaunchVehicles, including the renowned PSLV. The consortium between L&T and #HindustanAeronauticsLimited is currently focused on producing PSLVs, with the first privately assembled launch scheduled for early 2025. Additionally, the privatization of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) program, intended to offer affordable options for payloads up to 500 kg, has drawn interest from L&T, potentially enabling frequent launches every 15 days to meet growing #CommercialSpace demands. 📈 With projections valuing India’s space industry at $44 billion by 2030, L&T is well-positioned to leverage its established #Aerospace facilities and expertise. 🚁 The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has approved the #DronePolicy 4.0 (2024-29), providing a major boost to the state's tech-driven future in #drone manufacturing and services. With ₹500 crore allocated, the policy aims to generate ₹3,000 crore revenue and attract ₹1,000 crore investments, positioning the state as a #drone hub. 🌐 The policy envisions establishing 100 drone companies, 20 remote pilot training centers, and 50 Centres of Excellence. 🚁 The Union government has launched new provisions for the #NamoDroneDidi programme, aiming to modernize farming through the use of drones. The initiative offers up to 80% subsidy on drone costs for women-led rural enterprises, including pilot training. With an outlay of ₹1261 crore, the programme will support over 14,000 women-run self-help groups during FY 2025-26. This subsidy is available for drones priced at ₹8 lakh, which typically cost ₹10 lakh. #WomenEmpowerment #RuralDevelopment 🌾 The package includes drones with essential fitments like downward cameras, mounted fertilizer sprayers, extra batteries, and chargers. These drones will provide services to farmers on a per-hour hire basis, improving #agriculture efficiency. The Namo Drone Didi initiative will be overseen by a committee of secretaries from various ministries, including agriculture and rural development. It is expected to play a key role in transforming farming operations and boosting #agritech across India. 📈 The Indian drone industry is set to grow significantly, from ₹60 crore in 2020-21 to ₹900 crore by 2024-25. As drones expand into various sectors, including healthcare, #dronesforagriculture, and law enforcement, the potential for innovative applications is vast. According to IIT Kharagpur, drone spraying can increase crop efficiency by up to 40%. However, challenges like quality control, battery efficiency, and pricing remain. 🚁 Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched a groundbreaking drone service for healthcare at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bibinagar. This initiative is part of a larger #healthsector project worth over Rs 12,855 crore, which the PM inaugurated or laid the foundation stone for on Tuesday. The drone service will connect 11 tertiary care centres, including AIIMS Bibinagar, to deliver critical #healthsupplies. The launch took place from the All India Institute of Ayurveda in #NewDelhi. 🌍 AIIMS Bibinagar has been successfully running a trial of the drone service, using two drones to deliver #tuberculosis medications to remote villages and transport sputum samples for analysis. This pilot project, under the #NationalTBEliminationProgramme, has significantly reduced travel time from two hours to just 5-8 minutes, ensuring timely treatment while maintaining patient privacy. The initiative is currently active in the tribal and hilly areas of Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district. 🛠️ Dr. Vikas Bhatia , Executive Director of AIIMS Bibinagar, highlighted that with the official launch, the project can now expand to other areas such as #emergencymedicine delivery, medical help during disasters, and #foodsupply.
