"My journey at Hotstar has been a dream come true," shares Barath Chidambaram. "Every day, I’m excited to come to work, which is a rarity in my 18+ years of experience." Barath Chidambaram joined #DisneyPlusHotstar in September 2021 as a Senior Manager in the Analytics team, leading the Business Intelligence and Visualization team. A standout aspect of Barath’s experience has been the mentorship he’s received. "Initially, I sometimes felt uncertain about my accomplishments compared to my exceptionally capable colleagues, questioning my place here as I admired their expertise. My manager, Veeran Balasubramanian, has been an incredible mentor. He constantly reassured me that I wouldn’t be at Disney+ Hotstar if I didn’t have what it takes. His calmness under pressure is something I deeply admire. Veeran, along with my peers and team members, has played a significant role in my career." One of the aspects Barath admires most about Disney+ Hotstar is the company’s commitment to growth. "The opportunities for professional and personal growth are endless. The leadership and my team have invested significant effort in my success, and I strive to do the same for my team. Their success is my success." Barath describes the work environment at Disney+ Hotstar as uniquely dynamic. One piece of advice Barath shares for those starting their journey at Disney+ Hotstar: "Be mentally prepared for a journey filled with high expectations and aim to meet a bar that is set quite high." Reflecting on his time at Disney+ Hotstar, Barath concludes, "This has been the happiest I’ve been in any organization. It’s not every day you get the opportunity to build something from the ground up with such incredible support." Outside of work, Barath finds inspiration in his family. Meet Malika Kutub, Executive Director, LCS, sharing her journey at Disney+ Hotstar. “I’m the first girl in my family to leave our small hometown in Rajasthan for higher education in Mumbai. For me, a career was a chance to break barriers and shape my own destiny.” Since joining Disney+ Hotstar in 2019, she’s continued to push boundaries with the same grit—leading Agency Partnerships, serving as National Sales Director for Gaming & BFSI, and now as Executive Director for Large Customer Sales. Her journey exemplifies a relentless drive for growth and progress. Malika transitioned to media after a brief stint in PR & Communications, driven by her fascination with the fast-evolving digital landscape. Her admiration for Disney+ Hotstar was no accident. “I’ve followed Hotstar since its inception, amazed by how a traditional media company transformed into a digital force.” So when the right opportunity arose in 2019, she knew it was time. “As someone who understands this space and the power of quality content, Hotstar was where I needed to be,” she says, excited to contribute to an organization that continues to redefine India’s OTT landscape.
