Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana organized a 2-day health check up camp at the Civil Hospital, Kotgarh with the support of the Sumit Singha Memorial Charitable Society at Kotgarh. The CMC team was led by Dr Allen Joseph (Medical Superintendent & Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery) & Dr William Bhatti (Director & Head of Paediatric Surgery). During the camp, specialists from the departments of General Medicine, SPM, Cardiothoracic Surgery , Paediatrics, ENT, Dermatology, Orthopaedics & Gynaecology were available. Check up for more than 500 patients was done during the camp. Free medicines and investigations were also done during the camp. The representative of the Sumit Singha Memorial Charitable Society, Ms Uma Singha said that the society will continue to hold such camps in the future to benefit the residents of Kotgarh and nearby areas. Introducing the new President of the World Stroke Organization, Prof Jeyaraj Pandian, Professor of Neurology and Principal (Dean) at Christian Medical College, Ludhiana, India. Prof Pandian has been serving WSO since 2008 in different capacities, and is the Past President of Indian Stroke Association. Prof Pandian has made significant contributions in stroke epidemiology, systems of care, acute treatment, prevention and rehabilitation in low and middle income countries. He is a member of @WHO NCD STAG and works closely with World Health Organization Southeast Asia Regional Office.

World Mental Health Day was observed by Mental Health Nursing Department, College of Nursing, CMC, Ludhiana, under the guidance of Dr. Usha Singh, Professor & Head of Mental Health Nursing Department on the theme “It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace” at College of Nursing on 10th October, 2024. The Participants were nursing supervisors, ward In-charges/ Coordinators from different wards of CMC & Hospital, Ludhiana. The program was started with prayer. Welcome address was given by Dr. Harjit, Professor & Principal, College of Nursing. She emphasized that a healthy work environment is essential not only for individual well-being but also for overall organizational success. Dr. William Bhatti, Director of CMC & Hospital was the Chief Guest of the day. He highlighted that creating an inclusive environment where employees feel safe to discuss their mental health is crucial for overall workplace well-being. Dr. Mamta Singla, Professor and Head of the Psychiatry Department at CMC & Hospital, unfolded the theme. She encouraged everyone to prioritize self-care and open dialogue about mental wellness. A skit was performed by B.Sc.(N) 1st Semester students which was appreciated by all. Ludhiana, 13th October 2024 – The Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Awareness rally was successfully held at Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. The event was organized by The Neuromuscular Center of Excellence, Christian Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana and Nomads on Wheels. It attracted a large number of participants from all walks of life, united in the mission to raise awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). The event commenced at 4:00 PM with a Bike Rally flag-off at Barnala Automobiles, Ferozpur Road with over 380 riders from across Punjab, a strong show of solidarity for those affected by DMD, a genetic disorder that causes progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. Following the rally, participants gathered at the Christian Dental College for a Fun Fest & Games at the same time, bringing together families and the local community to further engage with the cause. At 5:00 PM, the rally concluded with a Reception at Christian Dental College, where participants shared their experiences and reflections on the event. The reception was followed by a Fundraising Event at 6:00 PM, where generous contributions were made to support ongoing research and care for individuals affected by DMD. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks at 7:00 PM, during which Dr. Vineeth Jaison, Professor and Lead Consultant at the Neuromuscular Center of Excellence, expressed his gratitude to all attendees, participants, and volunteers for their unwavering support. Dr. Vineeth Jaison stated, “The success of today’s event is a testament to the strength of our community and its commitment to raising awareness for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
