Anmol Garg you yet again "strike" on a subject that's so dear to everyone - Money. You did a #CrowdStrike, let's say. Pun intended. Your posts are going so #viral that you'll need to get a bodyguard. He might earn 1.5 Crores/PA and will be driving a Range Rover because he is #cybersecurity certified too. #funny #comedy #Bangalore #Software #Hardware

Anmol Garg there are a lot of people holding boards. But what you write on that board matters. Hence, you are on our platform. That too quite frequently! Like this one below. It's so good and #funny, that how can we not repost it. Good you left a career in #software and ended in #hardware ( as in holding boards😁) #comedy #Bangalore

Scott Merritt we are so proud of you. It must have been a huge huge disappointment, but we all learn something about 'ourselves' at the end of it all. In such situations our #integrity, #values and entire #character is put to test. You did the right thing ✅ It happens to the best of us, and we love it when experienced people like yourself, who have pretty much seen it, and done that, share such profound thoughts. The Q's arise: - Could you have avoided this situation altogether? Could you have pre-empted such an outcome in your wildest of dreams? "We guess not". - Did you find this offer too fishy initially, for you to have said to yourself - wait a minute what's going on here, what am I getting into! Why would someone offer me double my salary and all those perks. "It might have briefly occurred to you, maybe. But than what's in front of your eyes 👀 we generally presume to be the truth. Human nature. We are gullible creatures." For a young you, it might have been too much to grapple with, and we guess the reputation of the firm as you mentioned was good too for you to think otherwise. #life #lessons #business #PR #PublicRelations #ethics #corporatelearnings

Call me when you’re tired of working with crappy PR agencies. Webby Award nominee. Sometimes I talk into a microphone. Founder, Strategic Global Media | Co-Host, Second Act Stories Podcast

Early in my career I was wooed away from a PR agency I genuinely liked working for by another agency that was looking to add top talent. The recruiter sent me a cold email and floated a pretty big salary number. 💰 She clearly had done her homework. I could tell they researched me and my work history. I was, and I quote, "exactly what we're looking for." The interview process was quick and they made an offer just a few days after they initially contacted me. Nearly twice my existing salary, incredible benefits, a sign-on bonus, four weeks of vacation time... how could I say no? I did all the stuff you might expect from someone who just doubled their salary overnight. I bought a new car, upgraded some appliances in the house, and planned an elaborate vacation with my family. I was walking on water. For two months. Things came to a screeching halt when I was asked to share a list of client contacts and new business leads from the agency I just left. On the one hand, I was being paid handsomely by a company that put its money where its mouth was to get me to join. On the other hand, my integrity was on the line. I chose integrity. Then, like someone flipped a switch, I suddenly couldn't do anything right. I was fired a few weeks later, just a few days before Christmas. It became clear that I was nothing more than a means to an end for that agency. It was worth paying me if I was willing to stoop to their level; when I declined, I no longer had any value for them. It's a shitty way of doing business. To this day I have no regrets. I doubt I'd feel the same way if I'd traded my integrity for the promise of job security. My family survived and thrived in spite of it all. You can't buy integrity, but you can sell it pretty easily. But be careful; without integrity, you have nothing.

You know, I write a lot. Probably more than is healthy for someone in advertising, where words are currency, and we’re often asked to make do with just a handful. Yet here I am, putting my thoughts out there, like a street performer juggling spoons in a town full of people who prefer knives. I don’t have too much to fear. No more monsters under my bed. I throw my words into the world and learn from whatever comes back. Sometimes it’s applause, sometimes a polite cough, and sometimes a swift kick to the ego. But it all counts. They make me better. Perhaps, that’s the only way to improve. And why I keep writing. Especially when I don’t have anything earth-shattering to say about the industry. Or a new campaign to share that’s tipped to win the Platinum Otter Award. Well, that’s simple. My pen is all the spade I use to dig through my mind, find the odd truffle of an idea, dress it up, and send it out to see the world. It may not always bring home metal, but it will always bring back a lesson. Writing is what I bring to the table. It’s my thing - my thang, if you will. Everything else begins and flows from there. I write every day. Sometimes here, sometimes elsewhere. Like a bowler who practices daily, even when there’s no game in sight. Wake up early morning, go to the nets, and just keep continuously bowling at the stumps. You don’t need a batsman to get your bowling muscles and tendons to behave. Or even a coach. Your pen can’t be a knife that’s been in its sheath too long - grindstones and sparks are what will keep it sharp. You got to bleed. Advertising doesn’t always let me show off my love for long copy. Wrong profession these days for those who love spelling and grammar. No bloody school taught me emoticology and memephenia. This business would rather I write less and less. They have an anathema for the written word. We are raising zombies all around. But I do it anyway. I keep practising. I keep writing. It’s a habit, maybe even an obsession. Scary, but true. It sharpens the mind and the nib, both of which, I hope, will one day be sharp enough to cut through the noise and make someone say: “Hey, that was worth a very good Friday minute. Thank you.” Until then, I’ll keep writing. There’s a lot of ink left in me. #advertising #writing #adagency #copy #writing #friday #longcopy #bitm #banginthemiddle

Sad to hear this Brandon Watts 😢 Burnout in #advertising, #sales & #marketing roles have often been reported in #media. There have been several studies that have reported that #publicrelations jobs are among the most stressful jobs in the world. We doubt its purely pressure that leads to #PR folks quitting. There seems to be an underlying issue, which has gone unaddressed. * Managing client expectations/ Setting realistic expectations * Many people thrive under pressure. Hence the pressure we are talking about is more related to stress and energy sapping kinds, we guess * The need for PR to move up the value chain of business. A profit center versus cost center. A #business driver versus a support role * Better remuneration * Clear job roles and responsibilities * Respect for intellect and better training to cope with new clients, new areas of business/domains * Bring some work-life balance to the equation, don't function like a 24/7 *365 crisis communication department permanently situated in an ICU kind of setup Finally, it's just a #job, treat it like one. #marketing #media #burnout #worklifebalance #communications

Director of PR & Comms at Storyblok. 20+ years of driving millions of customers through earned media.

New data from Muck Rack shows 50% of PR pros considered quitting this year due to burnout. 44% previously left a job due to burnout. Impossible goals, unrealistic deadlines, getting pulled in too many directions, and a lack of understanding and appreciation by executives and other team members all contribute to the burnout that is too common in PR. People will tell you that’s just the way it is in the industry and excuse it. They view burnout as being part of the job description. But it’s not. It doesn’t have to be that way. PR can be fun, challenging, and successful—without burning you out. Don’t accept a Comms team culture that normalizes burnout.
