"Disasters test human integrity but also highlight the incredible resilience of communities. We, as young climate advocates, must channel this resilience to drive for better policy changes and climate action." Akhilesh, director and co-founder of Bring Back Green Foundation, shared his experiences during IOM's session at #LCOY2024 on young people as stakeholders in addressing climate change impacts using migration as an adaptation strategy. 

On July 30, a massive landslide struck #Wayanad district, resulting in the deaths of over 400 people and over 150 are still missing in Kerala's worst natural calamity. Survivors residing in #relief camps are grappling with immense #trauma and #loss. Psychological #support is a critical component of disaster management and rehabilitation. In the aftermath of a catastrophe like the Wayanad landslide #immediate and long-term #mentalhealth support can significantly aid in their recovery, helping them to process their emotions and rebuild their lives. Psycho-social support helps address the #emotional and mental well-being of disaster survivors. It is essential for several reasons: 1. Trauma Management: #Survivors often face severe psychological distress. Providing professional counselling can help mitigate long-term mental health issues. 2. Community Resilience: Supporting mental health can enhance community #resilience, helping individuals to come together and support each other in rebuilding their lives. 3. Holistic Recovery: Psychological support is part of a #holistic approach to disaster recovery, addressing not just physical needs but also emotional and mental well-being. The Bring Back Green Foundation is committed to providing comprehensive psychological support to the Wayanad community.
