We were honored to be a part of Satellite Innovation 2024 earlier this month. Katherine Gizinski moderated the opening session, where industry leaders explored the theme of 'Crafting Innovative Satellite Solutions for Customers'. Panelists Stewart Marsh from Cambridge Consultants, Curt Blake from Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Dr. Clare Martin from Astroscale U.S, Brian Miske from KPMG, and Dr. Annalisa Weigel from Fairmont Consulting Group shared valuable insights on emerging technologies and customer-centered solutions. Throughout the event, many discussions emphasised the critical role of spectrum access and regulatory constraints in advancing new technologies and services to market. In particular, the Direct-to-Device (D2D) session shed light on how supplemental coverage from space is being dealt with differently in each country. The significant impact of regulatory constraints demonstrates that spectrum truly is key. Thank you to SatNews for having us and for hosting such a fantastic event!

This week we’ve spotted this insightful piece in the Financial Times highlighting spectrum as the new battleground in space. As the authors note, what at first looks to be an obscure international rule regarding ‘equivalent power flux density’ can actually have an enormous impact on commercial, competitive, and sovereign interests. Here at River Advisers, we help clients understand these effects and set a course to support their strategic objectives. You can read the full FT article below.
