Yesterday, we had an enriching and significant meeting where we delved into the field of gender medicine, led by Dr. Iris Yaish, a senior endocrinologist and director of the Transgender Health Center at Tel Aviv Medical Center. During the lecture, we explored the unique challenges in the field of gender medicine and the multidisciplinary services provided by the Center for the transgender community in Israel. Prof. Nidal Muhanna elected to international CORLAS! Prof. Muhanna, MD-PhD, Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center Tel Aviv Medical Center and Associate Professor at the School of Medicine, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences Tel Aviv University, was recently elected to the international Collegium Oto-Rhino-Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum (https://www.corlas.org/). The Collegium is an international association that elects its members. One must have accomplished excellence in ENT research and be under the age of 50 to be nominated. The limit is 10 per country - 7 MDs and up to 3 PhDs. Prof. Muhanna is joining the Israeli chapter, with current members Prof. Karen Avraham Karen B. Avraham (head of the Israeli chapter and recent awardee of the CORLAS Shambaugh Prize for Excellence in Otology Research), Prof. Michal Luntz, Prof. Ronen Perez, Prof. Lila Migirov, Prof. Ronna Hertzano, Dr. Yona Vaisbuch, Dr. Arkadi Yakirevitch and new member Dr. Chanan Shaul. Honorary members include Prof Jona Kronenberg, Prof Haim Sohmer, Prof Josef Elidan, Prof Hillel Pratt and Prof Raphael Feinmesser. Prof. Muhanna graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem with an MD in 2003. He pursued a PhD on the Immune-Modulation of the Liver Fibrosis, awarded in 2013 from Hebrew University. He performed his residency in Otolaryngology at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center and a fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology & Reconstruction at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, University of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In 2020 he became the chair of the Department of Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery and Maxillofacial Surgery and Director of the Interdisciplinary Center for Head & Neck Surgical Oncology at the TASMC. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery. Prof. Muhanna’s research focuses on developing innovative therapeutic approaches and diagnostic methods to address the challenges encountered in the clinical treatment of head and neck cancer. His work integrates advanced technology platforms, such as molecular imaging, novel nanoparticles, and robotics, into therapeutic strategies. The primary objectives of his research are the clinical translation of these cutting-edge guidance and therapeutic technologies. This includes designing novel molecular tools to detect circulating cancer DNA and cancer cells in blood and saliva samples, as well as exploring the use of new imaging agents during head and neck surgeries to identify tumors and metastatic disease.

פרופ' ענת לבנשטיין ממשיכה להביא לנו גאווה עולמית, והפעם - מקבלת את הפרס הבינלאומי השלישי שלה (!) לשנה זו. פרופ' לבנשטיין קיבלה את פרס ה Merit in Retina Research של הRetina Society, שהוא הארגון הכי נחשב ויוקרתי בעולם בתחום הרשתית. הפרס ניתן על תרומתה רבת השנים למחקר בתחום הרשתית, לצד פעילותה המנהיגותית בארץ ובארגונים בינ״ל. פרופ' לבנשטיין – מצדיעים לך! ________________________________________________________________________________ Prof. Anat Loewenstein continues to bring global pride to our institution, and this time she’s received her third #internationalaward this year. בשנים האחרונות קיימה החטיבה הכירורגית בוטקאמפ למתמחות/ים חדשות/ים שהגיעו להתמחות בת 6 השנים. לאור הצלחת התוכנית, הוחלט השנה לראשונה לקיים הכשרה משותפת ל-15 המתמחות/ים בכירורגיה ובנוירוכירורגיה, במסגרת 3 ימים של הרצאות וסימולציות במטס. לדברי פרופ' גיא להט, מנהל החטיבה הכירורגית: "הכניסה להתמחות ובמיוחד להתמחויות תובעניות ואינטנסיביות כמו כירורגיה כללית ונוירוכירורגיה היא מורכבת. קיים פער עצום בין תפקידי הסטאז'ריות/ים למתמחות/ים ובמסגרת הזו אנו מאפשרים נחיתה רכה ומובנית ומספקים בזמן קצר ובאופן מרוכז מיומנויות קליניות וטכניות בסיסיות וכן הכרות עם המערכת והנהלים. מניסיוני, הבוטקאמפ מקנה כלים שמשפרים את הבקיאות של המתמחות/ים בתחילת הדרך ותורם לחיזוק הביטחון העצמי, ממקד ומשפר יכולות בסיסיות בתחילת הדרך". פרופ' יונתן רוט, מנהל המערך הנוירוכירורגי: משתף שהתגובות היו ״איך לא עשינו את זה קודם״. לדבריו:" נוירוכירורגיה היא עולם חדש עבור המתמחות/ים החדשות/ים. לא דומה לכל חשיפה קלינית ואנושית במהלך לימודי הרפואה. הבוטקאמפ מאפשר יישור קו בסיסי על הליכים שונים – הן ברמה התיאורתית, אך גם הטכנית, במטרה ליצור הליך כניסה חלק יותר להתמחות מדהימה זו. אני מברך את ד״ר יובל שפירא מנהל המחלקה, ואת ד״ר אריאל עגור ושאר רופאי המערך, וכמובן את החברים מכירורגיה כללית ושאר מערכות ביה״ח על ארגון האירוע וההשקעה הרבה״. Announcing: Prof. Eli Sprecher has been appointed as the new Director of Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center - Ichilov, succeeding Prof. Ronni Gamzu after #9years in the role. Prof. Eli Sprecher is currently the Deputy CEO for Research & Development and the Head of the Dermatology Department at Ichilov. He also serves as Vice Dean at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine. A renowned clinician, researcher, and academic leader, Prof. Sprecher has been a member of the Ichilov executive team since 2016 and has been with the hospital since 2008, following a 12-year tenure at Rambam Health Care Campus. Prof. Sprecher will be stepping into the role from Prof. Ronni Gamzu, who has served as Ichilov’s #CEO for the past nine years and has been part of the hospital’s leadership for 22 years. Over the coming weeks, the two will work closely to ensure a smooth leadership transition, with the change expected to be completed by the end of the year. במסגרת מכרז שהתקיים היום לבחירת מנהל/ת חדש/ה למרכז הרפואי תל אביב איכילוב, נבחר לתפקיד פרופ' אלי שפרכר, שיחליף את פרופ' רוני גמזו, לאחר 9 שנים בתפקיד. פרופ׳ אלי שפרכר, סמנכ״ל מחקר ופיתוח, מנהל מערך העור בביה״ח איכילוב, וסגן דיקן בפקולטה לרפואה באוניברסיטת ת״א, קלינאי, חוקר ואיש אקדמיה בעל שם עולמי. פרופ׳ שפרכר מכהן כחבר הנהלת איכילוב משנת 2016 והחל לעבוד באיכילוב בשנת 2008, זאת לאחר 12 שנים בבית החולים רמב״ם. פרופ' שפרכר יחליף בתפקידו את פרופ׳ רוני גמזו, אשר מכהן כמנכ״ל איכילוב מזה 9 שנים וכחבר הנהלת איכילוב מזה 22 שנים. השניים יבצעו תהליך חפיפה סדור בשבועות הקרובים והחלפת המנכ״ל תתבצע עד סוף השנה.
