Health care system can be defined as the aspect of organizing people, resources and institutions which deliver health care services to meet the needs of the health of populations targeted. A semi meta-analytic approach was used to assess the rate of distribution of health work force in Nigeria and the quality of their productivity. Unequal distribution of health workers is a major challenge in Nigeria health sector which should be holistically looked into by the government.
Improved health workforce contributes majorly to economic growth in different ways which subsequently will lead to the attainment of VISION 2020. Therefore, spending on health workers is a productive investment because it can raise the citizens' health status and it reduces the suffering of individuals on ill health, thereby promoting better opportunities to achieve economic growth and development.

Raw oyster samples from Sapian, Ivisan and Roxas City outlets of Capiz were bought, extracted from its shell and frozen last September 6,13,20 and 27, 2011 and were then transported and subjected to pH analysis at c of Science and Technology, Region VI Laboratory last September 7,14 ,21 and 28, 2011. The pH of raw oyster meat samples are within the microbial growth range for salmonella spp, staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli.

For a short-term HRV, measuring time is usually defined. However, with numerous possibilities of shortening the measuring time to evaluate the HRV further precision can be exhibited. This paper elucidates on analyzing raw ECG data and then further pre-processing it to obtain a smoothened data to detect mean HRV value .Further the ECG Data subsets of different age groups is taken and analyzed to find out the implications HRV has in patient’s lives and as a predictor of mortality. Heart rate variability (HRV) has been a strong predictor of heart failure and its prognostic significance is yet to be explored. The data in the experiment are taken from publically available source physionet.

Signal attenuation impacts QoS in wireless and satellite networks. An intelligent decision support system is therefore necessary for service providers by accurately calculating cloud, fog, rain, gaseous, and scintillation attenuations using predicted signal-weather correlated database in collaboration with ITU-R propagation models combined with gateway, and ground terminal characteristics. The effect becomes a key feature in adjusting and improving satellite signal power, modulation and coding schemes, monitored and controlled altogether by a powerful and efficient intelligent-based attenuation countermeasure system. Weather attenuations can have a distorting effect on signal fidelity at higher frequencies that lead to excessive digital transmission error. This loss of signal is commonly referred to as signal attenuation. Signal attenuation impacts QoS (Quality Of service) in wireless and satellite networks. An intelligent decision support system is therefore necessary for service providers by accurately calculating the attenuations [1]-[5]. In this project we are calculating rain attenuation. The fuzzy logic is added into the system. The fuzzy system will determine the ambiguous signal during the attenuation performed.

Antibacterial resistance to common antibiotic has increased overtime; there is thus the need to l... more Antibacterial resistance to common antibiotic has increased overtime; there is thus the need to look for an alternative medicine to stem the trend. This study reported incidence of β-lactamase producing Klebsiella pneumonia from patients. The antibacterial activity of crude aqueous and ethanolic extract of Phyllanthus niruri was also investigated against some test bacteria. Antimicrobial activities were analyzed using agar diffusion method. Experiments were performed in triplicate and reported as mean ± standard error of mean and difference was analyzed using one way ANOVA at p≤0.05. Sixty five percent (65%) and 25% of urine and wound samples were positive to β-lactamase producing K. pneumonia respectively. The highest zone of inhibition (22.0mm) was observed in a concentration of 0.5g/mL from ethanolic extract against K. pneumonia. While the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of aqueous and ethanolic extract of the plant was evidenced in 0.2g/mL and 0.1g/mL respectively. From the foregoing this study has shown that P. niruri extract have potential to be remedy for infectious disease caused by β-lactamase producing K. pneumonia.

This paper presents results of the influence of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) skills on the rel... more This paper presents results of the influence of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) skills on the relationship between Performance Contracting (PC) system and organizational performance in government ministries in Kenya. Descriptive survey design and correlational research designs were used in a mixed methods research approach. Quantitative data was collected through a questionnaire while qualitative data was collected through an interview guide. Research instruments were pilot tested for validity through content related method and reliability through test-retest criterion. A sample size of 310 respondents was selected by use of Sekaran’s (2003) sampling size criterion from a population of 103,010 employees in government ministries through multi-stage sampling technique. Arithmetic mean and standard deviation were used for analyzing descriptive data while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (r) and Stepwise Regression (R2) analysis were used for analyzing inferential data. F-tests were used to test the hypothesis in the study. Tests of statistical assumptions were carried out before data analysis to avoid invalidation of statistical analysis. With R2 = 0.14, F (3,177) = 9.588 at p < 0.05, the null hypothesis was rejected and it was concluded that the strength of the relationship between PC system and organizational performance depends on M&E skills. Monitoring and Evaluation skills, therefore, moderate the relationship between PC system and organizational performance in government ministries in Kenya. It is recommended that implementers of PC system in government ministries in Kenya should be equipped with M&E skills.

Dhaka, Bangladesh during March to August 2013 to study the
influence of variety and date of harvesting on changes of sugar
and starch levels of potato derived from TPS at ambient storage
condition. Potato variety and time of harvest had significant
effect on nutritional aspects. Reducing sugar, total sugar
increased with advancing storage period, whereas specific
gravity, non-reducing sugar and starch content decreased with
increasing storage period. Among the varieties HPS 364/67 was
the best in respect of nutritional aspects. At harvest and 100 days
after storage, the highest total sugar (0.61% and 0.82%) was
observed from Lady Rosetta and harvest at 110 days after
planting, while the lowest total sugar from HPS-364/67 and
harvest at 80 days after planting. The results revealed that HPS
364/67 showed superior nutritional quality than other varieties
when harvested at 100 days after planting.

seeking behaviors) are important‟, we set out to assess whether
less entrepreneurial behavior in Sri Lanka has an impact from the
innate culture? This working study interviewed 127
entrepreneurs in two districts in Sri Lanka and Geert Hofstede‟s
six dimensional cultures were assessed. We came to know that
selected entrepreneurs of two districts hold the characteristics of
being collective, high power distant, feminine, low uncertainty
avoidance, long term oriented and Indulgent. We concluded that,
innate culture hinders entrepreneurship in relation to power
distance. Though a large number of entrepreneurial ventures
started as solo entrepreneurial ventures in Sri Lanka, the distance
of power between the owner and the subordinates may act as a
restraining factor in the process of expansion. We generalized
our findings and different implications were made and finally
some research directions were proposed. Importantly, we
propose that, despite the relationship of cultural inheritance and
entrepreneurship, strategic entrepreneurial aspects are of
paramount importance to secure entrepreneurship in a country.
Simply put, it provides a clear basis for sustainable

Past studies paid less attention to empirically determine the
relationship between the said variables on brand image and using
brand trust as mediator between such independent and dependent
variables. Therefore, this study aims to fill up this gap and
contribute to the body of knowledge by examining the
relationship between them. Data is collected using questionnaire
from 287 passenger car users at shopping malls in Northern
region of Malaysia. Specifically, systematic sampling procedure
was followed during data collection. The data is analyzed using
structural equation modeling (AMOS). The findings indicate that
product innovation and product quality have significant
relationship with brand image. The findings also reveal that
product innovation and product quality have significant
relationship with brand trust. Additionally, brand trust mediates
the relationships between product innovation and brand image. It
is also found that brand trust mediates the relationship between
product quality and brand image. Based on these findings,
several conclusions were made with some recommendations for
future researches to strengthen our understandings toward the
process of developing brand image.

practices and microbiological qualities of household drinking water in some parts of Kano, Nigeria. Coliforms were isolated by using
membrane filter method with subsequent cultivation on differential and selective media. A total of 212 water samples were collected
and 167 questionnaires were administered to each participating household. Of these 212, 83.0% of water samples used had coliform
bacteria. A total of 143 (67.5%) households store their drinking water while only 69 (32.5%) collect and use their water without
storage. Post-collection contamination was found to vary according to certain parameters like container used in collection and storage
of the water, storage duration, number of children and wives and mode of collection.

than suprarenal length and thickness, whereas breadth of kidney
was less than breadth of suprarenal gland in all the age groups. All the parameters of kidney increased from that of suprarenal by approximately two or more than two times from end of 1sttrimester to 3rd trimester. A linear correlation of kidney parameters with suprarenal parameters was observed.

captured a zeitgeist and unveiled the wounds of our time. By analyzing the narrative techniques that Lessing uses in Shikasta I try to
prove that Shikasta is central in Lessing’s prolific oeuvre because it so clearly sets forth the basic terms of her debate about universal
identity and the way that it can be represented through fiction. My main discussion is that Lessing’s epistemology and ontology can be
embodied in her belief in the Utopian future of the earth; the narrative structure of Shikasta shows that such a Utopia or Paradise can

This study explored the views of Senior High School accounting
students and teachers on the use of instructional resources in
accounting instructions. In all, 12 accounting teachers, who were
selected purposely, and 151 accounting students, who were
selected randomly, from four selected Senior High schools in
Cape Coast Metropolis responded to a set of questionnaire.
Frequency and percentages were used in the data analysis. The
study found that accounting teachers hardly used instructional
resources to promote understanding in accounting lessons. In
most cases, the appropriate instructional resources that could be
used were not available. It was further noted that the key barriers
to use the appropriate instructional resources in accounting
lessons were the high acquisition and maintenance costs coupled
with the frequent power outages.

Aqueous extraction method was used to extract the dye. Some
selected mordants were used for dyeing viz; alum, ferrous
sulphate1, and iron water. In the control dyeing without the use
of mordants, very good fastness were registered with the
following fastness ratings; for washing (4-5), dry rubbing (5),
wet rubbing (5) and light (4). The natural dye is a substantive dye
since it registered very good fastness grades without the use of
mordants. The use of mordants improved color fastness to light
from ratings of (4) to (5) and (6) for iron water and ferrous
sulphate and a poor fastness of (3) was recorded for alum. Postmordanting method registered the best overall fastness results
and the best color strengths K/S values and color saturation
values C. However, the most brilliant colors were registered with

intervals, and germination characteristics of scarified and non
scarified seeds of castor bean accessions in 2008 and 2009. Two
hundred seeds were selected from each accession: one hundred
seeds were scarified mechanically by caruncle removal using
knife (seed lot 1), one hundred seeds were not scarified (seed lot
2). Each seed lot was immersed in 10ml of distilled water
contained in 9cm-diameter petridish. Thereafter, seed lots were
weighed at every 6 h starting from 0 to 24 h, and at every 12 h
up to 108 h. Water uptake in scarified and non scarified seeds
was determined by seed mass increase, and expressed as
percentage increase in mass of seeds. Germination test of two
hundred seeds of each accession was done by planting seeds 2cm
deep in moist sandy loam soil contained in plastic containers to
determine germination characteristics .Results showed that the
weight and percentage weight increase of seeds at 6 and 12 hour
intervals were significantly higher in scarified seeds than in non
scarified seeds. Scarified seeds attained maximum saturation at
60 h and non scarified seeds at 84 h. Scarified and non scarified
seeds differed significantly in water uptake and germination
characteristics at 6 and 12 hour intervals, being higher in
scarified seeds. Mechanical scarification improved water uptake,
germination characteristics and the planting value of seeds.

four tropical trees species is irregular, there is higher density of

acidity, salinity, calcium and magnesium content are suppressive
to larval development in one hand. In the other hand, potassium,

School Students’ Performance in Physics in Ekiti West Local
Government Area of Ekiti State, Nigeria was investigated in this
study. The study adopted a survey research design of the ex-post
facto type. The sample comprised 120 senior secondary school II
Physics students drawn from the six secondary schools in Ekiti
West Local Government Area of Ekiti state. The instruments
used for the study was questionnaire and past academic
performance in Physics of the students involved in the study.
Two research hypotheses were generated and analysed in the
study using Pearson’s Moment Correlation and Multiple
regression statistical analysis. Among others, the study revealed
that: students‘ variables (study habit, attitude to and interest of
students in Physics) are better predictors of students’
performance in Physics, while student gender has no influence on
students academic performance (is a poor predictor). The results
also revealed the individual contribution of students’ variables to
students performance in term of beta weight 0.222 (22.2%),
0.196 (19.6%), 0.142 (0.14.2%) and 0.020 (2%) for students
attitude to Physics, study habit, students interest and gender of
the students respectively. Conclusion and recommendations were
also made in this paper.

growth of petunia seeds. Selections of plant candidate from
varieties of seeds were considered. The ideal candidate is petunia
seeds since it can sprout at a minimum period of seven days.
Generally, there is significant effect of mine tailing
concentration in primary root growth . Findings show that
primary roots in 25%, 50% and 75% mine tailings media are
significantly shorter than the pure soil media. The data revealed
that addition of fertilizer to the media increased plant growth in

when fertilizer is added. It is also noted that there is significant
decrease in root length as the amount of mine tailing is increased.

the Image Acquisition Subsystem (IAS) and the image analysis
subsystem. IAS acquires gray rail images for the surface of a rail
head, and the latter processes rail images and detects possible
defects. This paper propose the Local Normalization(LN) method
to enhance the distinction between defects and background in a
rail image, considering illumination inequality and the variation
of reflection property of rail surfaces. VIS first acquires a rail
image by the image acquisition system, and then, it cuts the sub
image of rail. Track by the track extraction algorithm. Then, VIS
enhances the contrast of the rail image .At last, VIS detects
defects using the defect localization based on projection profile
(DLBP), which identifies possible defects using the projection
profile of the mean intensity over each longitudinal (or

in field conditions. Path analysis was done to understand the effect of one trait on another trait in different DF groups of rice cultivars
separately. It was found that effect of number of total tillers on number of fertile tillers and effect of number of total spikelets/panicle
on number of fertile spikelets/panicle were equally higher in each DF group. Effect of bio mass, number of tillers, panicle length and
number of spikelets/panicle on the final yield greatly varied with the DF groups. The negative effect of plant height on harvest index
was also varied in DF groups. Effect of panicle length on panicle weight was exceptionally highest in the 80 DF group while the effect

bark was extracted using hydrodistillation and soxhlet extraction
method with three different solvents i. e. petroleum ether, hexane
and dichloromethane. All extraction was carried out for 6 hours
at 1 atm. The highest yield of cinnamon oil was obtained by
soxhlet extraction in dichloromethane, followed by hexane and
petroleum ether were 5.22 %, 3.84 % and 3.71 %, respectively.
While only 1.82 % yields of cinnamon essential oil extracted
when using hydrodistillation method. The volatile compounds of
cinnamon essential oil were identified using GC-MS analysis.
The results indicated that 9 major volatile compound were

Model Inter-comparison Project 5 was used to explore the
changes in temperature and rainfall under moderate and high
climate change scenarios. We used downscaled model
projections of daily minimum and maximum temperature and
rainfall for the period 2040-2070 relative to the 1980-2010
reference period. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to
test (at 5 % level of significance) for differences among the three
selected models in predicting the three variables under both
climate change scenarios. Where significant differences were
observed, we carried out multiple pair-wise comparison of the
models using Dunnett’s test. Overall, two of the three models
showed insignificant differences (p˂0.05) in predicting minimum
and maximum temperature while the other model deviated from
the two. However, we identified a consistent warming trend
across all the three models. The strength of global climate
models in rainfall prediction was found to lie in their ability to

coronary artery disease and angiographic characterization in
young adults. In current study 45 patients (90%) were men and
only 5(10%) women. 10% of this population were obese and
78% were overweight. Risk factor analysis revealed smoking to
be present in 78% of population. Family history was present in
52% of population. As compared to Diabetes Mellitus 12%,
hypertension was present in 40% of patients and hyperlipidemia
was seen in 48% of patients. Angiographically the percentage of
coronaries involved was 84% (n=42). Nevertheless single vessel
disease was the most common angiographic finding in the study
group, 67% of patients had single vessel disease and 28% had
double vessel while as about 5% patients had triple vessel
disease. The left anterior descending artery was the most
common artery involved followed by right coronary artery and
circumflex artery. From these results we conclude that
Myocardial infarction before age 45 is a disease of men. A
sizeable proportion of patients will have normal coronary
arteries. Coronary arteriography should be considered for
patients who sustain a myocardial infarction before age 45 for
purposes of diagnosis, management and prognosis.

utilized in the study (i.e. macroscopic and microscopic) served as
indicators of the genotoxicity of the water samples to the test
organisms. This laboratory experiment of the genotoxic effect of
the water samples revealed insignificant differences among the
different water samples and the control group for all the
following observations: macroscopic level in terms of root length
and frequencies of root forms and the mitotic index values scored

processing methods (roasting with/without pod and boiling with
pod) were also employed and their effects on the lipid and
protein content evaluated. Results demonstrated that groundnuts
are excellent sources of protein and lipid. The processing
technique, especially, dehulling before roasting manifested a
significant (p<0.05) increase in the protein and lipid contents
when compared with raw samples and other techniques. Overall,
groundnut seed is a rich source of protein and fat. Hence, may be
employed in animal feeds and human diet. The processing
technique, roasting without pod, amongst others, resulted in
greater improvement in the protein and lipid contents. Hence, the
traditional processing method could effectively enhance the
nutritional value of legume seeds, particularly groundnut, and for

9.10% (p<0.05). Sun drying increased the ash in both the DL and
HU. Carbohydrate increased more the in HU than in the DL. The
micronutrients in both DL and HU were reduced by sun drying.

(ALT) in albino mice. Tissue samples (liver tissue) were
collected from normal control and nandrolone decanoate treated
(2.5mg twice a week, administered intramuscularly for 13 weeks)
albino mice and AST/ ALT levels of liver tissue were measured
by following the method of Reitman and Frankel (1957).The
results show a highly significant increase (p<0.01) in the AST
and ALT levels in nandrolone decanoate treated albino mice
compared to that of the normal control group. This study
suggests that nandrolone decanoate abuse can cause liver toxicity
which may alter the normal biochemical and pathological
mechanism of the organism.

This research aims to study the relationship of Social Media in
relation to the Academic Performance of the the students of
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Centro
Escolar University-Malolos. Among the one thirty eight (138)
respondents drawn using stratified random sampling there are 45
first years, 37 second and third years and 19 fourth years. There
are 102 males and 36 females participated in this study. Seventy
one (71) or 51.4% of the respondents have reached below
satisfactory grade average while sixty seven (67) or 48.6%
students have successfully reached the satisfactory academic
performance from an average grade. Sixty one (61) or 44.3%
falls under the Occasional User of Social Media while seventy
seven (77) or 55.7% falls under Frequent User of Social Media.
This represents that there are more Frequent User of Social
Media among the respondents participated in this study.

related to sexual behavior. Meanwhile, family and community
socio-economic environments were negatively related to sexual
behavior. Sexual behavior of adolescents differed when their age
and gender were considered. Males who are in their late
adolescence tend to engage more in risky sexual behaviors than
those who were in their mid- adolescence and in their early
adolescence. Attitude, age, gender and economic environment
predict adolescent’s sexual behavior. Based on model generated
socio-cultural environment, socio-economic environment had
indirect effect to sexual behaviors of the adolescents.

rapidly spreads through the Neotropical region where the mite
damages economically and ecologically important plants. The
present study is focussed on incidence, distribution pattern and
injurious status of R.indica on areca palms. Field sampling was
conducted fortnightly for the period of March, 2013 to
September, 2013 on areca palms cultivated in two districts viz.
Malappuram and Wayanadu of North Kerala, South India.

densities of the mite on areca palms with peak population in
March/April. High numbers of the mite could be observed on the
bottom frond leaves than the middle and top leaves. The present

determine the antifugal effect of some plant extracts at different
concentration to control tomato fruit rot via both invitro and
invivo approaches. The aqueous moringa, Lantana, garlic and
pawpaw each with two varying concentrations (40 and 60g/l)
were evaluated along with carbendazin for comparison and
untreated tomatoes serving as control against Aspergillus flavus.
The treatments were laid in a Completely Randomized Design
(CRD) with three replications. The results showed a promising
antifungal activity of the crude extracts of these plants against A.
flavous. Among the various plant extracts with varying
concentrations, aqueous extracts of pawpaw (40 and 60g/l) was
found to have more significance (P< 0.01) inhibitory effect on
radial growth of A. flavus both invitro (0.30 and 0.24cm and
invivo 0.77 and 0.71) better than other extracts and is comparable
to carbendazim. On the other hand, lantana, garlic and moringa at
40 and 60g/l reduced radial growth of A. flavus better than the
control. This finding proved the potentiality of plant extracts for
the control of post harvest and transit fungal rot of tomato fruit
and could be applied to control fungal fruit rot of tomato in both
storage and on transit.

were prepared sequentially with methanol, chloroform and
petroleum ether. A comparison was made between the action of
extracts from different parts. Different concentrations of each
extract were made by using phosphate buffer and subjected to α-
amylase and α-glucosidase inhibitory assays using maltose and
2-Chloro-4-Nitrophenyl-α-Maltotrioside as substrates
respectively. Using this method, the percentage of α-amylase
inhibitory activities of each extract were calculated. The enzymes
were extracted from the sheep intestines. The absorbencies ware
read at 595 nm and 405nm respectively using spectrophotometer.
Methanol extracts were found to show higher inhibition. It was
found that fruit and stem extract showed high rate of inhibition.
At 100 μg/ml concentration of the stem extract a high of 83%
inhibition of α-amylase was recorded. A high of 80% inhibition
was recorded for α-glucosidase activity when 100 μg/ml of stem
extrats were used. Leaf and flower extracts were also good in the
inhibition of both the enzymes but the rate of inhibition was vey
less and at 100 μg/ml concentration the rate of inhibition was
18%. The results conclusively provide proof that MP extracts are
andidiabetic by being hypoglycaemic. The results strongly
recommend the use of banana extracts in the control and the
treatment of type-2 diabetic mellitus.

study, anthropometric parameters (weight and height) were
measure to check their correlation with blood pressure. The
study was carried out on 320 primary school children whose age
ranged from 6-14 at a gender ratio of 1:1. Their heights, weights
and blood pressures were measured using height meter, weighing
scale, sphygmomanometer and stethoscope. The results showed
that weight and height values correlated with systolic and
diastolic blood pressure for males in all age groups except in age
groups 6-8years. In females, weight values correlated with
systolic and diastolic blood pressure in all age groups while
height correlated with blood pressure only in age groups 6-8years
and 9-11 years. Females also showed higher mean weight values
than the males in all age groups except in groups 6-8yearrs. The
present study indicated that weight and height were associated
with blood pressure; with weight showing stronger association
with systolic and diastolic blood pressure than height. Females
had higher mean systolic and diastolic blood pressure than males
starting from ages 9-14.

shallow depths and only the top 1.5m of the subgrade need be
improved for effective pavement performance. Predicted axial

level Sinhala medium science students. 815 High school level
Sinhala medium science students age between 17-18 years were
requested to complete a 13 item questionnaire consisted of
images related to correct and incorrect back disciplines in various
daily activities. Out of 815, 776 students were completed and
return the questionnaire with the response rate of 95.2%.
Seventy percent of the students were unaware about the correct
back discipline while washing cloths manually and more than
half of the students (52%) were unaware about correct back pack

unaware about the correct sleeping method of side lying posture
