The second session featured an impressive line-up of experts sharing insights on a number of topics: ➡ International Protection of Women: Recent case-law of the Court of Justice focusing on protections for women in vulnerable situations. ➡ Information, Interpretation, and Legal Advice: Reflections on changes to the IPO procedure introduced in November 2022, providing new perspectives on applicant support. ➡ EU Accession to the ECHR: A comprehensive update on progress and implications of the EU's alignment with the European Convention on Human Rights. Did you know King's Inns Library collection started over 200 years ago?   📚 📜 While King’s Inns was established in 1541, the Society had begun to acquire books for a library in 1788 when the benchers agreed to purchase some law volumes that belonged to the estate of the late Christopher Robinson, a judge of the King’s Bench. As the collection grew it was stored for a while in the bencher’s chamber. Today the King's Inns Library houses just over 110,000 volumes, including both law and non–law works.   Yesterday afternoon, our Librarian, Renate Ní Uigín, delivered a presentation on the history and collections of our Library to a group of members and students. Attendees received valuable insights into our collections, notable books, and the extensive range of subjects available in our catalogue. We were delighted to host local and international speakers centred on UEFA’s recent decision to choose Dublin as an alternative seat for their CAS (Court of Arbitration for Sport) authorisation disputes. Attendees explored the implications of this significant development, hearing insights from arbitrators and representatives from UEFA and TAS/CAS Tribunal Arbitral du Sport / Court of Arbitration for Sport / Tribunal Arbitral del Deporte (CAS), as well as from Sports Law arbitrators at The Bar of Ireland.
