Exciting Progress in Goldboro! We had a very engaging community event today in Goldboro, Nova Scotia, where we shared our plans to develop a renewable energy park to produce sustainable aviation fuel. This transformative project will be developed at the formerly proposed Goldboro Liquified Natural Gas Project site. Hugh Kelly, CEO & Co-Founder of Simply Blue Group, shared: "It was a privilege to connect with local residents and businesses to discuss how we can work together as we develop the renewable energy park. Engagement is key, and it was great to get initial feedback from the community today. We look forward to building strong relationships with the community, which will benefit both the environment and the local economy." 🌍 Big News for Nova Scotia and the Future of Energy! 🌱 We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our Canadian Sustainable Fuels Project in Goldboro, Nova Scotia! Formerly proposed as the Goldboro LNG site, this location is now set to become a major Renewable Energy Park (REP). Our project will focus on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) pushing Nova Scotia to the forefront of the clean energy revolution. 🌿 Hugh Kelly, CEO & Co-Founder of Simply Blue Group, says: " We are very excited to be developing the Goldboro site into a renewable energy park. The sustainable aviation fuel that we will produce there will play an essential part in reducing dependence on fossil fuels and combating climate change.” He continued: “SAF is a drop-in fuel that matches the performance of conventional jet fuel while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 90% compared to conventional jet fuel.” Construction begins in 2026, with full operation expected by 2029, creating hundreds of jobs and boosting local economic growth! 🚧💼 Tory Rushton, Minister of Natural Resources and Renewables said: "Nova Scotia is poised to become a leader in green hydrogen. This industry will help us, and our global partners fight climate change, and it will grow our green economy in Nova Scotia with benefits for generations to come. We’re pleased to see Simply Blue Group investing in this budding new industry in Nova Scotia. They’re going to make a big difference in the transportation sector with aviation and marine fuel. And as a new market for our low-grade wood fibre, they will help our forestry sector be healthy and strong.” Michael Galvin, Simply Blue Group’s COO - Hydrogen and Sustainable Fuels said: “It’s great to be finally launching this project. A lot of work has gone on in the background with three years of due-diligence and engineering completed, and we have already signed a supply agreement with Wagner Forest NS Ltd. to act as an agent in sourcing 700,000 tonnes of green biomass per annum.” For more see here https://lnkd.in/eQfPAyux #SustainableFuels #NovaScotia #Goldboro #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #CleanFuture #SAF

NIMO has come such a long way since we started off in 2023! We had our most recent meeting where we learned about the Offshore Wind Growth Partnership from Claire Canning, and how they help support SME growth. We were also lucky enough to hear from Kirsty Gouck and Connected Places Catapult about the Belfast-Liverpool Green Shipping Corridor Feasibility Study. There is a real opportunity for innovation in green shipping and its amazing to see what can be achieved when we all work together. There is so much opportunity in the maritime & offshore sectors - as demonstrated by Karl Crockard and Sean McCready. And we were delighted to welcome new members Ad-Vance Engineering Lisburn Ltd and ESB! Thank you to Stephen Kane, Sorcha M. and Sam McCloskey for your updates, to Bronagh Goan for updating us on what is happening at the Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and to our hosts - the Advanced Manufacturing Innovation Centre and Colm Higgins - it's exciting to hear about future plans. Looking forward to the next one... 😊

Last week the first phase of the North Sea Farm#1 project was successfully installed in wind farm Hollandse Kust Zuid. Two state of the art Eco-anchors, 13m long piles with the top 2m covered with nature restoration substrate, were installed in a 2 day operation during a lucky spell of perfect weather. The second phase, seeding & deployment, will start mid October. We would especially like to thank our contractor Doggerland Offshore for the successful and smooth execution of this offshore operation. We would also like to thank the following companies who have contributed to this successful operation: · Sander van Rijswijk - CIV Den Oever · Dieseko Group BV · Geovisie · Hapo · Herman Senior b.v. · INTRAMAR insurances · Menno Mulder · MULLER Dordrecht · Simply Blue Group · www.zeeschelp.nl · VAN DER STRAATEN AANNEMINGSMAATSCHAPPIJ B.V. · Vriezoo BV #ROVservices#ROVservices · Vattenfall · Wilhelmsen Port Services And last but not least, Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund for making this project possible. The North Sea Farm#1 project aims to draw attention to the benefits of seaweed for Europe to help tackle climate change by potentially sequestering and avoiding CO2 emissions, as a circular resource and as a blueprint for multi-use offshore seaweed farming around the world. The industry needs a (temporary) production subsidy for seaweed cultivators in Europe to make investments in scale-up viable and give our markets access to sufficient and affordable European seaweed. The NSF#1 project and the European seaweed entrepreneurs show that the industry is ready for this next step! Simply Blue Group is thrilled to be part of the pioneering North Sea Farm 1 project, the world's first commercial-scale seaweed farm, set to launch this autumn at Hollandse Kust Zuid Wind Farm. This innovative project, supported by Amazon's Right Now Climate Fund, exemplifies the multi-use of sea space by integrating seaweed cultivation within a wind farm. To read more about the North Sea Farm 1 project, click below 👇 #Seaweed #NorthSeaFarm1 #Sustainability #Innovation
This autumn, the world’s first commercial-scale seaweed farm will open within the wind farm ‘Hollandse Kust Zuid’ (HKZ), located about 18 kilometers off the coast of Scheveningen in the North Sea. North Sea Farm 1, initiated by North Sea Farmers with funding from Amazon’s Right Now Climate Fund, is a floating farm located between wind turbines where seaweed cultivation can be tested and improved. Scientific research will also be conducted on site into the potential of seaweed farms to capture carbon. By locating the farm in previously empty space between turbines, the project is able to expand seaweed cultivation in the otherwise heavily used North Sea. There is more than enough space in the current and future planned wind farms in the North Sea to scale up production to 1 million tons of fresh seaweed per year by 2040. This is expected to contribute to the capture and avoidance of millions of tons of CO2. For more information please refer to the attached press release. On behalf of the project consortium with Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML), Deltares, Silvestrum Climate Associates, Simply Blue Group, Van Oord and marine contractor Doggerland Offshore we would like to extend our thanks to Amazon and in particular Roeland D., Dirk van den Bogaart, Laura Huff and Steve Kellett in making this project possible. We would also like to thank Vattenfall's Willemijn van Meurs, Sharon Van Hemert, Iris Menger and Martin ter Braak for their support in obtaining the co-use permit.
