Polished concrete floors are among the easiest and most cost-effective options in terms of upkeep. Unlike stone, vinyl, or wooden floors, they don’t need regular waxing or polishing. These floors are designed to handle heavy traffic and are highly resistant to scratches. However, while they require minimal care, some maintenance is necessary to preserve their lustre and vibrant colour. Read our latest blog for essential tips on how to keep your polished concrete floor gleaming, maintain its shine, and extend its lifespan. https://lnkd.in/eg-TwGti #Blog #PMAC #polishedconcrete #maintenance

Our skilled heritage floor restoration team has recently completed a restoration of the magnificent tiled floor at Nun’s Cross Church in Wicklow. Several areas of the floor showed significant wear, with a number of tiles either missing or damaged. These were expertly restored by our experienced craftsman, Craig. With precision and care, Craig skilfully cut and replaced the damaged tiles, ensuring that the floor was restored to its original elegance and seamlessly blended with its historic surroundings. Following the repairs, the floor was carefully cleaned using specialised neutral pH products. This process not only preserved the delicate tiles but also removed all contaminants and old sealants, restoring the surface to its original state. To protect the restoration work, we applied a high quality impregnator. This provides an added layer of defence against daily wear and tear, makes future maintenance easier, and ensures the floor remains in pristine condition for years to come. Thanks to the combined efforts of our skilled team, the floor at Nun’s Cross Church has been returned to its former glory, ready to be enjoyed by visitors and maintained for years to come. #PMAC #restoration #heritage #heritagecontractors #tilerestoration

The PMAC Stone Restoration team is currently restoring the exterior granite walls of a historic cottage, built around 1850, within an architecturally protected zone in Dundrum's Pembroke Cottages. This detailed project aims to return the cottage to its original state, using traditional techniques such as lime pointing and carefully sourcing stones from other sites to match the original structure. The walls were previously reinforced with concrete, but the current restoration focuses on preserving the cottage’s historical integrity and architectural style, contributing to the charm of the surrounding Port House Ibéricos restaurant in Dundrum Town Centre. #PMAC #HeritageContractors #restoration #limepointing

We frequently receive questions about what to expect when PMAC installs a polished concrete floor in a home. Here’s a detailed overview of the process: 1.    Surface Grinding: The journey begins with a coarse grind to eliminate surface imperfections and, if desired, reveal aggregate for a textured finish. This follows a 28-day curing period for the concrete. 2.    Progressive Polishing: Using progressively finer diamond grits, the surface is refined to achieve the desired finish, whether matte or high-gloss. 3.    Densifying and Hardening: A concrete densifier is applied to enhance the floor’s density and durability, making it more resistant to stains and wear. 4.    Final Polishing: Final polishing passes are performed to perfect the surface. A sealer may also be applied to further protect and enhance the floor’s appearance. 5.    Edging and Detailing: Special attention is given to edges, corners, and any decorative features to ensure a flawless result. 6.    Cleaning and Inspection: The area is meticulously cleaned and inspected to ensure it meets the highest standards. 7.    Post-Installation Walkthrough: A thorough walkthrough is provided, along with detailed care instructions to help maintain the floor’s pristine condition. The "Tree of Life" sculpture, a much beloved landmark in St. Anne's Park in Dublin, was recently restored by our Facades team who carried out a low pressure steam clean using the DOFF system by Stonehealth Ltd.  With the assistance of HighDrive.ie by Height for Hire, the team used a MEWP to access the high and difficult to reach areas, ensuring that all operators followed health and safety regulations by wearing harnesses. We were delighted with the end result and hope the beautiful chainsaw sculpture continues to stand proud for many years to come. ********** The "Tree of Life" sculpture was carved by Tommy Craggs in 2015. The work transformed a storm-damaged Monterey cypress tree into a beautiful and intricate piece of public art. Located in one of Dublin's largest parks, this wooden sculpture features interconnected figures of animals, plants, and humans, symbolising the interdependence of life and nature. It has become a popular landmark, highlighting sustainability and the beauty of the natural world.
