Providing high quality care for all our patients is at the heart of everything we do at Mater Private Network.

About us

Mater Private Network offers patients from all over the country the highest standards of care; it is a full-service hospital, specialising in Heart and Vascular, Spine and Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, Cancer, Surgery and Robotic-assisted Surgery services. Mater Private Network includes two high-tech hospitals, one in Dublin and one in Cork, two advanced Cancer Centres located in Limerick (Mid-Western Radiation Oncology Centre at the University Hospital Limerick) and Liverpool (Clatterbridge Private Clinic), and a network of out-patient clinics throughout Ireland. We also operate the diagnostic PET CT scanner at Mater Misericordiae University Hospital Dublin. We continually invest in quality, staff, innovation and infrastructure and in 2020, we opened two new Day Hospitals in Cherrywood, South Dublin and Northern Cross, North Dublin. These new facilities offer patients their consultation, scan & testing, and an initial treatment plan in one day, in one location. The Day Hospitals are designed around the needs of patients, ensuring seamless continuity of care and communications across the Mater Private Network. Mater Private Network recognises that patients can require elective, urgent or emergent access and with this in mind we have continued to grow our urgent and rapid access services. Mater Private Dublin is the only private hospital in Ireland to offer a 24-hour urgent cardiac care service. At Mater Private Network, we endeavour from the first point of contact to deliver patient care with compassion and competence. We aim to continue to personalise the delivery of healthcare and care plans for our patients. We know that patient involvement in their healthcare decisions increases engagement and treatment efficacy and we continually strive to keep patients informed and involved. Mater Private Network is accredited by the Joint Commission International .

This month, the Electrophysiology (EP) team at our Dublin hospital celebrated a very significant milestone. Over 1,000 procedures using Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) with Farapulse from Boston Scientific have now been performed in our cardiac cath labs by Prof. Gábor Széplaki and the EP team. PFA is a treatment option for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib), a type of arrhythmia characterised by an irregular, fast heart rhythm. The Atrial Fibrillation Institute at Mater Private Network was established in 2020, and since then, has grown to be the largest group of EP consultants in Ireland, treating approximately 40% of the country’s atrial fibrillation patients. Speaking about this achievement, Prof. Gábor Széplaki, Head of Electrophysiology, says “I am very proud that the EP team is leading out on delivering the most advanced AFib ablation techniques for patients across Ireland, and thankful to the team at Boston Scientific for their continued collaboration”.
