It was a big week for Lidl Ireland as we opened our 180th store at Newcastle, Dublin, on Thursday and welcomed Dublin Ladies Gaelic Football Captain Carla Rowe to officially cut the ribbon on the brand new, state-of-the-art store 🎉 To mark the opening, the store team in Newcastle welcomed John Kinsella from neighbouring St Finian’s Community Hall to accept a donation of €1,000 in Lidl vouchers. With crowds gathering from early, the first ten customers through the doors also received complimentary shopping vouchers and shoppers were treated to cooking demonstrations and samples from our suppliers Liffey Meats and Panelto Foods. The opening of the Newcastle store created 30 permanent new jobs for the local area and takes Lidl's store count to 52 within County Dublin. #LidlIreland #Dublin #Newcastle #NewStore #GoFullLidl

We were delighted to have John Moran Mayor of Limerick turn the first sod at our latest development in Towlerton, Ballysimon, Co. Limerick this week. This new state-of-the-art concept store will be our sixth outlet in Limerick, following the recent opening of our Dock Road store, creating 30 permanent new jobs in the area when it opens in early 2025. Limerick is hugely important to us, as we have traded proudly here since 2000 with the Childers Road branch, one of the first stores to open in the country. With construction now underway with our construction partners Monami Construction breaking ground to develop the 2,205 sqm retail unit, the local community can look forward to an unrivalled retail experience, shopping high quality products with Ireland’s best value retailer when we open our doors in early 2025.

Have you seen our new milk cartons spotlighting Ladies Gaelic Football players? 🥛 Our milk packaging initiative is an exciting new innovation which complements the work we have been doing this year with the 'Get Behind the Fight’ campaign as we seek to help the Ladies Gaelic Football Association increase attendance at intercounty fixtures. Available to purchase from all 179 Lidl stores nationwide, we’ve intentionally selected our bestselling milk products as they’re a fridge staple in millions of households across the country, maximising the visibility of star female players in households every day. The initiative comes after national research we commissioned earlier in the year into attendance of female sporting events found that nearly 60% of people in Ireland have not attended a female sporting event. This research shows that a lack of familiarity with female athletes is a significant barrier to people attending games. We have phenomenal female athletes competing in the LGFA Championships who deserve our recognition and support and we’re delighted to have four LGFA players feature on our new packaging - Kerry’s Síofra O’Shea, Galway's Nicola Ward, Cavan’s Ally Cahill and Tipperary’s Aisling Moloney. Show your #SeriousSupport 🏐 and fill every seat at this weekend’s 2024 LGFA Championship Finals on Sunday, 4th August in Croke Park. 🎫 Ticket info here: https://lnkd.in/eKiaH4Yp

As a proud supporter of Irish producers, we’re delighted to see that 77 Lidl Ireland products have achieved a Great Taste Award, making us the most awarded discount retailer in this year’s awards.   From innovative new products including Lidl Deluxe Mango Chutney, Deluxe Brown Soda or Dry Cured Back Bacon Joint with Healy’s Acacia Honey, to our award-winning gin and craft beer range, these products have been specially selected by an independent test panel of over 500 experts to be deemed the best in category. With prices starting from as low as €0.75, Lidl shoppers can enjoy premium quality at market leading value, with no compromise on taste.   A huge congratulations to each and every one of our valued suppliers who achieved this fantastic accolade, and to our customers for continuing to support local producers by shopping with us.   With a growing local supplier network of almost 1,800 suppliers and business partners right across the country, from Bantry to Ballyjamesduff and Gorey to Galway, we continue to invest in the Irish agri-food sector. Last year, we procured €1.1 billion worth of goods from the Irish agri-food industry, with €800 million staying within Lidl Ireland’s operations to be sold through our local store network and more than €300 million exported internationally through Lidl’s expansive network of stores, showcasing the best of Irish produce on the global stage.

🏐 Introducing #LidlShootToSave 🏐 We are continuing our #GetBehindTheFight campaign with an innovative TikTok social discount offer, harnessing the power of social media to not only drive attendance at Ladies Gaelic Football fixtures but also increase the visibility of female sport online. Pledging an investment of €50,000 into shopper discounts, attendees who post on-field action on TikTok from any of the knock-out games across the Senior, Intermediate and Junior Championships and tag @LidlIreland on TikTok using #LidlShootToSave, can earn a discount of up to €20 on their next shop through their Lidl Plus app in any of Lidl’s 179 stores around the country.  This campaign taps into our #GetBehindTheFight research findings which show that 42% of Irish people who are interested in attending female sports events seek out information on fixtures through social media, whilst 36% rely on friends and family. Tickets to attend 2024 TG4 LGFA Championship matches are available via the host county boards which can be accessed via www.lidl.ie/tickets or via the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) website www.ladiesgaelic.ie We hope to see you there showing your #SeriousSupport 🙌
