Platin Works held their annual Wheeler’s Charity Cycle 2024 in aid of the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association on Tuesday 13th. The 50km cycle started in Platin before passing through Oldbridge, Monasterboice, Clogherhead and Baltray before heading back to Platin. Well done to everyone involved!

We were delighted to welcome residents from Cois Carraig Retirement Village in Clarina along with Niall Collins and Councillor Fergus Kilcoyne from Limerick City and County Council to Irish Cement Limerick today. We enjoyed sharing the cement process and our current alternative fuel plans with them, it was a great day out for all involved. As part of their visit, they received a donation of €5,000 to support their purchase of a ride-on lawnmower to help with the upkeep of their gardens and grounds.

Our EDP fundraising has come to end! A huge congratulations to everyone who raised a whopping €15,268 for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity. The teams tripled the initial goal of €5,000 and had a lot of fun along the way! Well done to all of the Irish Cement employees and mentors who participated in the fundraising: Aaron Hodgins, Kenan Johnson, Bryan Martin, John Blackwell, Gerard Corridan, Craig Rice ACA, Brendan Morris, Paul Duff, Emmet Clarke and Donnchadh Woods (ACCA).

Recently, David Chambers, Cormac Reilly, Johnny McArdle, and Helen Bennett visited The Red Door Project in Drogheda. Members of the team from Platin Works recently ran/walked the Bru Na Boinne 5K in aid of the Red Door Project. Ollie Mac Gabhainn from The Red Door Project gave the team from Platin Works an extensive tour of premises, which showcased the great work being done. The Red Door Project was established in 2010 and focuses on offering and providing confidential assistance and services in response to individuals, families and the community that are affected by drug and alcohol use.

The countdown to the EDP fundraising for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is on! Fundraising finishes on July 31st at 12pm. This week, we highlight two Irish Cement employees who are participating in EDP 2024: 📢 John Blackwell’s team, Man vs Machine, mentored by Donnchadh Woods (ACCA), are collectively walking the height of the world’s 100 tallest buildings, adding up to an impressive 1.5 million steps over the entire month. 📢 Ger Corridan’s team, the Beatles, will be climbing one of Ireland's most famous mountains, Croagh Patrick, on July 26th.
