As part of our journey to make Seven Mills a biodiversity net gain town, this initiative is a vital step toward enhancing local ecosystems. We recently had the opportunity to work with Eco Seeds to harvest wildflower seeds of local provenance, in partnership with South Dublin County Council, for sowing later this season in Seven Mills. Amongst the many diverse wildflower seeds collected, there is one of particular importance called Yellow Rattle also known as the “Meadow Maker”. Its common name refers to its papery seed pods which contain loose rattling seeds when ripe. Yellow Rattle parasites on the more dominant grass species reducing their vigour and open up the grass sward, to allow more species-rich wildflowers to thrive. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to foster biodiversity and create beautiful, sustainable landscapes in Seven Mills and across all our developments. #Cairn #Sustainability #SevenMills
