seventh-inning stretch
baseball A tradition taking place in the middle (between the top and bottom) of the seventh inning during which the audience stands up to stretch and sing along to music, traditionally "Take Me Out to the Ball Game." To be honest, I was always pretty bored at baseball games whenever my dad took me to see one, but I loved singing along during the seventh-inning stretch. It's a close game, and we're only at the seventh-inning stretch. A lot could happen between now and the final pitch.
