SSEK Law Firm founding partner Ira A. Eddymurthy and partner Nico Mooduto recently attended The Law Firm Network’s 2024 Asia Pacific Regional Conference. The conference was held in Ho Chi Minh City and hosted by the LFN’s member firm for Vietnam, Indochine Council. It was attended by legal professionals from across the region. LFN’s regional director for Asia Pacific, Sanjanthi Sajan, was the keynote speaker. The conference included networking sessions and a comprehensive professional program. The Law Firm Network is an association of independent law firms from around the world, whose principal lawyers have close personal and professional relationships. The network has members in more than 50 countries. SSEK is the LFN member firm for Indonesia.

The Indonesian government has introduced Government Regulation No. 35 of 2024 regarding Franchises, replacing Government Regulation No. 42 of 2007. SSEK hosted a breakfast briefing on the latest developments in expatriate work and stay permits, with guest speakers from the Indonesian Directorate General of Immigration and the Ministry of Manpower. Participants heard about and discussed new regulations on Indonesian co-laborers for expatriate employees and the list of approved positions for expatriates; the latest rules on allowed activities under different visas; visa requirements to hold a meeting in #Indonesia; Indonesia’s Golden Visa program; hiring expatriates and the required visas; enforcement changes and trends; and more. The guest speakers were Ade W. Sathria, an immigration analyst at the Directorate of Immigration, and Ali Chaidar Zamani, a sub-coordinator for eligibility testing and RPTKA approval at the Ministry of Manpower. Stephen Igor Warokka, a supervising partner of SSEK’s corporate immigration practice, moderated the discussion. SSEK Law Firm partner Nico Mooduto recently took part in a webinar on drafting legal opinions, part of a mentoring program for students at the State University of Semarang (UNNES) Faculty of Law. The program was organized by the Private Commercial Law Community of the UNNES Faculty of Law, in collaboration with SSEK. The mentoring program is meant to give students an understanding of the practicalities of working at a law firm.

To strengthen the supervision of medical devices distributed in #Indonesia and to ensure that medical devices that have received a Marketing Authorization meet the safety, efficacy, and quality requirements, the Ministry of Health has committed, with the issuance to two circular letters, to stricter enforcement of Good Distribution Practices for Medical Devices (CDAKB).
