✈️ Aviation IT integrates artificial intelligence in many areas. Industry players in aviation manage complex, coordinated processes and vast volumes of data, whose rapid processing significantly accelerates decision-making. AI is present in several fields from ticket pricing to flight scheduling, from baggage handling to managing changes in the aircraft’s center of gravity during flight, from crew scheduling to assisting air traffic control – enhancing the work of aviation professionals. 💡 The efficient operation of air traffic is supported by a wide range of AI-based systems and models. Two months ago, we asked you in which operational areas of aviation you see the most potential for utilizing artificial intelligence. ✈️ The majority of respondents (41%) voted for "weight and balance planning," but "navigation and charting", "operations control" and "crew management" also received a significant number of votes. In fact, all of the survey options are relevant. Why? 👇 💡@Dániel Berecz, Head of Engineering (Lufthansa Systems): "The application of artificial intelligence in aviation impacts several areas. One of the opportunities lying in AI that we explore is 'zero-fuel weight' forecasting, which involves predicting the total weight of passengers, baggage, cargo, catering, etc., to determine the optimal amount of fuel for the flight, ensuring that it is enough for a safe journey but its quantity and weight are not unnecessarily large. 🧳⚖️ 📊 Our NetLine/Ops ++ aiOCC product supports the Operations Control area by providing AI-assisted decision support to Ops Controllers during irregularities. For instance, if an airport is closed, the AI can suggest alternative destinations for flights and recommend the most optimal and cost-effective route.
