Princess Charlotte is 'overprotective' of mum Kate as she recovers from cancer treatment

Princess Charlotte has reportedly been overly protective of her mother in recent months as Catherine, Princess of Wales recovers from undergoing cancer treatment.

The nine-year-old warmed hearts as she was seen at Trooping the Colour standing in front of her mother, continuously talking to her throughout the festivities. Catherine also doted on her daughter, stroking her hair and making conversation during her first public appearance in months.

Royal author Ingrid Seward says Charlotte become "protective" and has been "really taking care of her mum," as evident in this recent appearance.

"Charlotte seems to be very full of admiration for her mother, which I think is a lovely thing, too," Seward told Hello.

The young royal was seen taking care of the smallest details during her mother's return, even reaching above her own head and over to her mother's side to wipe down the fogged up glass of the carriage they were riding during Trooping the Colour to ensure her mother was able to wave to fans properly.

A short clip of the moment has been circulating on social media, with many praising the young royal, calling the moment "heartwarming."

"Kate and Charlotte are great friends and I think to Kate, their bond is very precious. The mother-daughter relationship is obviously particularly important to Kate because she has such a close relationship with her own mother, Carole Middleton," Seward said.

The 42-year-old had been relying heavily on her mother during her recovery, having been spotted for the first time in months being driven by Middleton as they dropped the Wales children off at school.

Seward adds that Catherine is trying to emulate the late Queen Elizabeth II in trying to build a "stable family" dynamic with her close family of five.
