Walk Up Jardine House 2024 by MINDSET Hong Kong | The Jardine Matheson Group Charity kicked off on 4 October with its virtual race segment. Over the past week, the Boost Up Stations at our offices have been abuzz with passionate runners “stepping up” in support of mental health. Today is World Mental Health Day and it also marks the start of Jardines Mental Wellness Month. During this month, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of mental wellbeing and encourage our colleagues to "Take 10 for Mental Health" by spending ten minutes a day to practise mindful habits. At Jardines, we believe that mental health is just as important as physical health. We are faced with information and ideas on sustainability daily, and it is often hard to sift through what's true and what's not. In this edition of Jardines Sustainable Talks series, we addressed some frequently asked sustainability questions submitted by our colleagues. Our lineup of speakers featured sustainability champions across Jardines and experts from the field, including Cosmo Lo from Lee Kum Kee, Gary Li from RESET Carbon Ltd. 锐思碳管理, Perlie Wong from Jardine Matheson and Yiki Cheng from Gammon Construction Limited. During the event, they debunked common sustainability myths and shared insights related to climate action and circularity. To wrap up the event, Spare-it, a technology company providing data intelligence solutions on workplace waste reduction and recycling, led a workshop showcasing the use of AI to audit waste and explore opportunities in Jardines for better waste management. At Jardines, we truly cherish quality family time. During the summer break, the Jardine Sports Association came together to organise a fun-filled Family Month 2024 replete with various activities for both children and parents. Colleagues gave their loved ones a tour around the office, participated in exciting prize games, and enjoyed delicious snacks. There were creative workshops that allowed families to spend time creating something special together. These included diverse activities that ranged from assembling aroma sand candles all the way to crafting their own Oreo-flavoured fondant doll cakes. Everyone involved had a brilliant time. Jardines at ReThink HK 2024! Last week, colleagues across Jardines joined Hong Kong's most ambitious business event for sustainable development, ReThink 2024. The Jardine Foundation Scholarship Awards 2025 for undergraduate studies at the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge are now open for applications until 20 October. We had the incredible opportunity to inspire young minds at the ‘Jardines STEM Day’, a volunteering event focused on innovation, learning, and fun!   A team of 30 volunteers from Jardines came together to host an interactive experience day, with the aim of fostering a passion for STEM among participants. Twenty children from underprivileged families and ethnic minority backgrounds engaged in a series of activities that included making a DIY solar mosaic lamp workshop using recycled plastic, and exclusive guided company visits to Zung Fu House and JEC’s Biochar Plant where they experienced real life applications of technology.    The event was an enriching educational experience for both the children and our volunteers. Recently, we partnered with The Women's Foundation and co-organised a STEM workshop to support the future development of young talents. These STEM enthusiasts had the opportunity to dive into the world of electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy. They uncovered the inner workings of EVs, discovered the charging mechanisms, and had a tour of the Zung Fu Company Limited showroom and repair workshop.
