  • 【Gleneagles shares experiences in healthcare digital transformation at Hospital Management Asia conference】 #Gleneagles is pleased to play a part in the Hospital Management Asia 2024 in Indonesia earlier this week. The 4-day event offered an inspiring platform for discussions and knowledge exchange on keeping pace with healthcare challenges and transformations in healthcare delivery. Our Chief Information Officer (CIO) Mr Louis Shun engaged the audience with the topic “Driving digitalisation and patient-centered innovation in healthcare based on interoperability” which depicted Gleneagles’ digital transformation journey leveraging the use of apps, artificial intelligence, robots and more to enhance operational efficiency and patient experience. Also shared was how the hospital navigated through the challenges encountered during the transformation. In the session “Redesigning nursing care”, our Assistant Director of Nursing Ms Cora Yim exchanged views on the emerging trends of nursing care delivery with nursing representatives from other healthcare organisations. Ms Yim was joined by our CIO when they introduced Gleneagles’ adoption of a remote order system, empowered by a doctor app with a digital signature function, which has significantly improved accuracy and communication, reduced nurses’ workload and manual steps, leading to enhanced medication and patient safety.

  • 【Promoting quality improvement and patient safety at international forum】   #Gleneagles was privileged to have participated in the recent International Forum on Quality & Safety in Healthcare which offered healthcare leaders and professionals from around the world a platform to exchange knowledge and insights and discuss ideas related to a wide spectrum of topics on patient safety and quality improvement.      In the session “A tale of 2 cities – Hospital accreditation in Hong Kong and Shanghai”, Dr Kenneth Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong and Regional Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare North Asia, compared Gleneagles’ experiences in simultaneously participating in the two international accreditation schemes, namely the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) International and the new China’s International Hospital Accreditation (CIHA) Standards. The sharing also covered some of the hospital’s current learnings and challenges as it goes through the CIHA exercise.      In another session, Dr Tsang interacted with other industry professionals on the dynamics between the public and private healthcare sectors under the city’s dual-track system, whilst presenting some of our hospital’s efforts in contributing to filling the gap between the two sectors to achieve a more balanced healthcare system.      We also thank our teams from different disciplines for showcasing at the forum some of the initiatives taken in raising quality of care and patient safety, these included our innovative infrared detection system to prevent patient falls, our patient support and remote care service, a new labelling system to enhance efficiency and accuracy of specimen processing, infection control improvement measures for our new dialysis centre, and more.

  • 【Staying on top of potential data breaches】   At #Gleneagles, we are committed to providing the best possible and personalised care for our patients while ensuring that our data security and privacy is always safeguarded.   Since 2019, we have been organising periodic data breach drills to strengthen the preparedness and resilience of our staff to potential data breaches. In a recent round of tabletop exercise, our staff conducted some drills on handling common data breach scenarios covering ransomware attack, accidental document disposal, email or postal leakage, and phishing under the guidance of a professional consultant. The group seized the opportunity to refresh their knowledge of the best practices and gained additional insights into the crucial process to go through in managing data breach incidents and minimising the impact.

  • 【Achieving continuously high healthcare standards through adopting CIHA Standards】 To ensure that our quality and patient care and safety stay on par with international standards and to foster healthcare integration within the Greater Bay Area, #Gleneagles is set to adopt the China’s International Hospital Accreditation Standards (CIHA) (2021 Version) in hospital accreditation, in addition to our current adoption of The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International accreditation. We have recently kick-started the preparation for the CIHA exercise and had the pleasure of inviting experts from the Shenzhen Hospital Accreditation Research Center (SHARC) to introduce to us the background, accreditation process, requirements and risk assessment and address questions from our staff. The informative session was followed by an insightful experience sharing by representatives of The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital. We will make every effort to achieve the CIHA and are confident that our dual accreditation will allow us to have the best of both schemes and deliver the best possible care for patients!
