About getting a connection error on a proxy server on a Chromebook

I am creating an extension that sets up a proxy server on a Chromebook. I would like to retrieve an error when I cannot connect to the proxy server.
I am considering retrieving errors with "onProxyError", but it seems that "onProxyError" also detects errors when the session with the proxy server is disconnected.
Is there a way to only retrieve connection errors with the proxy server?

Even when Chrome is able to connect to the proxy server, it detects errors with "onProxyError", so I am having trouble accurately obtaining the connection status of the proxy server. Is there any way to determine whether the proxy server is usable or not within the extension?
