🦉Πρόσκληση εκδήλωσης ενδιαφέροντος για τη χορήγηση υποτροφιών σε νέους επιστήμονες 🏝Tις υποτροφίες συντονίζει το WWF Ελλάς στο πλαίσιο της Πρωτοβουλίας για την προστασία εμβληματικών ειδών πανίδας της Ελλάδας. 🦨Αποστολή του WWF Ελλάς για την περίοδο 2023-2030 είναι η διατήρηση της βιοποικιλότητας και της κλιματικής σταθερότητας, εξασφαλίζοντας ένα μέλλον όπου οι άνθρωποι θα ζουν σε αρμονία με τη φύση μέσω προστασίας και αποκατάστασης σημαντικών φυσικών οικοτόπων και ειδών, προώθησης λύσεων για την ανάσχεση της κλιματικής κρίσης, και μείωσης του ανθρώπινου αποτυπώματος στη Γη από τη χρήση των φυσικών πόρων. 🐒Ειδικότερα στο πλαίσιο της Συμμαχίας για την Άγρια Ζωή, το WWF Ελλάς εστιάζει στη διατήρηση των εμβληματικών ειδών της Ελλάδας και στην αύξηση της γνώσης για τα απειλούμενα, ενδημικά, και λιγότερο γνωστά είδη πανίδας μέσω εφαρμοσμένης έρευνας με στόχο τη βελτίωση της διατήρησης και προστασίας των ειδών αυτών στο διηνεκές. 🌴Για τους σκοπούς αυτούς, το WWF Ελλάς καλεί καταρτισμένους νέους επιστήμονες που μοιράζονται το όραμά τους για ένα μέλλον όπου οι άνθρωποι και η φύση ευημερούν και συνυπάρχουν με αρμονία, και επιθυμούν να συμβάλλουν στην διατήρηση της ελληνικής βιοποικιλότητας μέσα από το ερευνητικό τους έργο να υποβάλλουν, έως τις 13 Οκτωβρίου 2024 και ώρα 23.59, ερευνητικές προτάσεις για απονομή υποτροφίας. 🤑Συνολικά προβλέπονται για το έτος 2024-2025, δώδεκα (12) υποτροφίες των 10.000,00€ με διάρκεια ένα έτος (Ιανουάριος – Δεκέμβριος 2025). 👁️👁️Περισσότερα: 🔗https://lnkd.in/durDqwr9 🎓🎓🎓 #scholarship #training #ecosystem #ecoprotection #education #students

Our latest Journal publication in Springer’s “Nonlinear Dynamics” presents a straightforward methodology for the selection of floating-ring bearing design to establish synchronous periodic response (as the unique component) in turbocharger rotors. The methodology may include further design variables. The method is proved very helpful in the dynamic design of turbochargers (and of high-speed rotating machinery in general) avoiding the classical approach of several case studies. I am happy to tell you that a month ago I ended my Erasmus experience at the School of Mechanical Engineering - NTUA in National Technical University of Athens where I studied for a semester. Among the various courses I took, I was able to analyse the design of a wind farm in detail thanks to Professor George Caralis's Wind Energy course with Marinos Manolesos and Vasilis Riziotis: in this course I was able to study all the theory of the world of wind energy in depth, from the preliminary study of the site to the economic analysis of the wind farm, passing through the choice and optimisation of the technical parameters of the turbines. It was very stimulating to produce a wind farm project throughout the course and to do a wind tunnel workshop in which I analysed theoretical and real results of the operation of a turbine. Thanks to the Decentralised Thermal Energy System course by Professor Sotirios Karellas with Tryfonas Roumpedakis I was able to learn more about the use of renewable energies in electrical/thermal production with a focus on ORC systems. During the course, in fact, I and my team designed an ORC cycle by optimising the choice of temperature and fluid through modelling first in MATLab and then in Trnsys. In addition, it was very interesting to delve into the world of start-ups in the field of bioengineering thanks to the Professor Leonidas Alexopoulos Bio-design course, during which I studied the process of creating a start-up in this field and also designed a start-up with my team from my own business idea. It was an honour and a pleasure to attend your lectures and visit your workshops. Thanks to the Management Information System in Production and Occupational Safety and Healt courses, I was able to explore the topics of production management and risk calculation in large organisations. Finally, the Environemnt and Development course, for which as a group I produced a paper on the use of Waste-to-Energy in Italy, I delved into the topic of the environmental impact of new technologies through multidisciplinary work with colleagues from other departments. At the end of this incredible experience, I visited Kymi, a town twinned with my city Bacoli and the place from which, in the 8th century B.C., the Euboeans left to colonise what is now Cumae, the first Greek colony in Italy. In this beautiful place, I was welcomed by the Deputy Mayor of Kymi Argyris Pafra and the President of the Municipal Community of Kymi, Antonis Roussos, as well as a group of citizens I will never forget. It was an incredible experience and a pleasure to contribute to the continuation of this twinning. For this I thank again Professor George Caralis!! Living in Athens for 5 months was a very enriching experience that made me grow a lot both humanly and academically. I met great people and made friendships that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. It was an incredible journey for which I thank all the people who were part of it!
