7:07 P.M. CAL FIRE Status Update
Situation Summary
Firefighters continue to gain containment and cool hot spots throughout the fire. Utility crews are working diligently to repair and replace damaged infrastructure. Many areas previously under an evacuation order have been repopulated, for detailed information review the section below.

Highway 140 will be open with traffic controls from Old Hwy North to Grojean Rd. This will be open to all traffic through to Yosemite National Park.

EXTENDED FIRE SSUPPRESSION EFFORTS
A large pre- fire suppression plan is being conducted in the Allred Rd area. There is an extremely large amount of fire and emergency equipment doing precautionary work, this includes a significantly large dozer operation. Please drive slowly while in the area and watch for Firefighters working in the area.

FEMA Fire Management Assistance Granted for the French Fire in Mariposa County
9:30 A.M. Per Caltrans:
SR-140 closed in both directions from Grosjean Rd. to SR-49 due to the French Fire. Motorists advised to avoid this route. For current conditions always use Quickmap.dot.ca.gov
6:30 A.M. Update Per CAL FIRE: 843 acres and 5% contained. Dozers and handcrews constructed line around the entire eastern side of Mariposa. As fire activity is moderated, firefighters will focus on the eastern side of the fire. Multiple evacuations and road closures are in place. 3:06 A.M. Update Per CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced:
French Fire Dozers and hand crews have constructed a fireline around the entire eastern side of the community of Mariposa. As fire activity moderates, firefighters continue to push towards and focus on the eastern side of the fire.
1:15 A.M. Update Per CAL FIRE: The French Fire in Mariposa County is 843 acres and 0% contained.

July 5, 2024 – The Mariposa County French Fire was first reported at around 6:04 P.M. on the CHP website on Thursday, July 4, 2024. As of Thursday evening the French Fire was reported by CAL FIRE to be at 790 acres, with 0% containment.
