Globo Filmes is Globo Group’s film production branch. We work as co-producers of Brazilian movies focusing especially on artistic quality and diverse content, highlighting all aspects of the Brazilian culture while providing audiences with the best of Brazilian cinema: comedy, romance, family movies, drama, action, and documentaries. Globo Group is the largest media group in Latin America, consisting of several companies that create, produce, and distribute high-quality content across multiple platforms.
Since 1998, Globo Filmes has been involved in more than 500 productions. This includes film financing, through tax incentives or pre-licensing, as well as providing artistic, media, and cross-media support. In 2023, Globo Filmes celebrated its 25th anniversary and reached over 260 million tickets sold.
Our filmography spans from blockbusters, such as “My Sister and Me”, the biggest post-Pandemic Brazilian box office, with more than 2 million tickets sold, “Elite Squad 2: The Enemy Within”, and “My Mom is a Character 3” – each one with over 11 million tickets sold –, to pictures praised by critics and wide audiences, such as “2 Sons of Francisco”, “Marighella”, The Second Mother”, “Toll”, and “Carandiru”. Our features have won awards both in Brazil and abroad, such as “City of God” – with four Academy Award nominations –, and “Bacurau” – which received the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival.
