Did you know #LNG emits virtually no sulphur oxides and particulate matter; can emit up to 85% fewer nitrogen oxide emissions than traditional heavy marine fuel oils, and requires little to no modification to existing bunkering infrastructure? Switching to LNG provides a way to meet decarbonisation targets. Follow us to learn more about the benefits of LNG. #energyflowing #sulphuroxides #nitrogenoxide #alternativefuels

On August 16, Peninsula's Singapore team organised a "Take Action on Waste" activity along with WISTA Singapore and SSA Young Executives Group (YEG), that combined hands-on litter collection with insightful learning on waste management. 44 participants collected 47 kg of litter, with Group 4 collecting the most (12 kg) and being crowned the winning team. The breakdown of litter collected by other groups was: Group 1 – 6 kg, Group 2 – 9 kg, Group 3 was disbanded after a reshuffle, Group 5 – 5 kg, Group 6 – 4 kg, Group 7 – 7 kg, and Group 8 – 4 kg. Participants were also educated on the urgent waste challenges facing Singapore. The country’s only landfill, Semakau, is projected to reach full capacity by 2035, despite Singapore being one of the world’s greenest cities. This underscores the critical need for sustainable habits and actions. Further insights were gained through the screening of the documentary "Wasted," which highlighted key challenges and potential solutions for global waste issues, especially in Asia: Challenges: Misleading Recycling Symbols: Resin Identification Codes (RICs) give a false impression that many products can be recycled, while in reality, they often cannot. Asia as a Dumping Ground: Many parts of Asia continue to receive global waste, despite some countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines pushing back against imports. Solutions: Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR): Holding manufacturers accountable for the full lifecycle of their products can drive waste reduction. Public Awareness and Pressure: Heightened environmental consciousness can push governments and corporations to take more significant actions against plastic pollution. By combining hands-on action with education, Peninsula continues to take meaningful steps toward a cleaner, more sustainable future. This event reaffirms our commitment to clean waters and a cleaner world, one step at a time. The ocean is our office and we are committed to protect it. #EnergyFlowing #WasteReduction #Sustainability #ZeroWaste #ProtectOurWaters

On World Biofuel Day, we celebrate the pivotal role of #biofuels in the maritime industry. Peninsula's Biofuels reduce greenhouse gas emissions, can be used on existing engines without engine modifications, contain almost no sulphur and result in simple and safe utilisation onboard, paving the way for a #sustainablefuture. The addition of our latest chemical tanker "Aalborg" to the Port of Barcelona aims to increase and advance the adoption of lower carbon marine fuels in the Western Mediterranean. Our close relationship with the Port of Barcelona and their progressive adoption of alternative fuels has enabled us to establish a fully operational bio supply chain, offering flexibility and a range of bio and traditional fuel blends. These sustainable fuels are #ISCC EU certified, allowing ship owners to comply with FuelEU Maritime regulations, EU ETS reductions, and improve their CII ratings. Demonstrating our commitment, we recently supplied Hapag-Lloyd's containership, "Yantian Express", with biofuel via our IMO II chemical tanker, showcasing the tangible progress of our efforts. As a leader in marine energy solutions, we are committed to meeting our customers' needs and driving the maritime industry's transition to low carbon fuels. #EnergyFlowing #Decarbonisation

On Friday, August 16, 2024, Peninsula, in partnership with WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING & TRADING ASSOCIATION (WISTA Singapore) and Singapore Shipping Association’s Youth Executive Group (SSA YEG), will meet to combat plastic waste. We will embark on a kayak expedition in Marina Reservoir to remove waste while learning about the impact of litter on our waters and wildlife while contributing to a cleaner environment. Why is this event crucial? - Recycling Gap: Only 9% of all plastic in use worldwide is recycled, despite the theoretical potential for full recyclability. - Single-Use Plastics: Half of all plastic produced is for single-use purposes, commonly found in packaging and serviceware. - Environmental Impact: Plastics contribute 3.4% of global greenhouse gas emissions annually, outpacing the aviation (1.9%) and shipping (1.7%) industries. - Fossil Fuel Dependency: Plastics, derived from oil and natural gas, are projected to account for half of global oil demand by 2050. - Microplastics Menace: Most plastics in the ocean degrade into microplastics, contaminating our food chain and posing risks to human health. Stay tuned for more updates and details about the upcoming event! The ocean is our office and we are committed to protect it. #energyflowing #TakeActionOnWaste #Sustainability #PlasticPollution
