About us
Green Africa Youth Organization is a youth-led, gender balanced, non-profit organization focused on environmental protection, climate change, and youth empowerment. Founded in the year 2014, we are dedicated to developing human interest to observe basic natural laws and adopt the behavior of living in harmony with nature. Our Goal is to create a balanced relation between humans and the various natural systems on which they depend in such a way that all the components are accorded a proper degree of sustainability. Over the years our work have been in diverse fields including climate change, waste management, disaster risk reduction, sustainable agriculture, and renewable energy activism. GAYO has partnered with several local and international organizations to lead climate and sustainable development events/campaigns targeted at clean energy, greener lifestyle and ecosystem protection. VISION: We work to create a world whereby conserving the natural environment will be a number one priority of the masses. MISSION: Our mission is to research and provide solutions to pressing environmental issues through youth empowerment and public education. Meet the team tackling waste across Africa, cleaning the air and boosting employment with Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) – a scalable and ambitious program based in Ghana. Open burning of waste leads to toxic air pollution, making people and the planet sick. Through a smart approach to circular waste management, GAYO are taking 100s of tonnes of waste out of landfill and open burning. GAYO are turning this waste into products that can be sold at profit. Not only that, but they’re bringing young people and women into the value chain – training, employing and empowering them to boost their incomes. GAYO have ambitions to spread across Africa, and their replicable model means this ingenious approach can reach new cities and communities at speed.
