BPA NEWS FLASH 🗞️ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has announced that applicants who present forged or false documents for authentication would be handed over to the police and prosecuted accordingly. The presentation of forged or fake documents is a criminal offence under Sections 158, 159, 166, and 169 of the Criminal Offences Act 1961 (Act 29). BPA BUSINESS UPDATE *📈📉 BoG Publishes the eCedi Report In 2019, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) announced plans to explore a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), referred to as the "eCedi." The BoG has released the eCedi Report, which outlines the key considerations and success factors for conducting a CBDC pilot. The eCedi is envisioned as a digital complement to cash, intended to boost financial inclusion and improve the efficiency of payments. The eCedi Report serves as a comprehensive introduction to the BoG’s vision for a digital currency. Within this report, the Bank of Ghana revealed that it successfully completed a pilot project in a controlled "sandbox" environment, testing both the feasibility of issuing the digital currency and its acceptance by users.
