About us

We are Accra Brewery Limited (ABL); a company of owners dedicated to celebrating national pride and creating extraordinary moments by brewing and sharing only the finest beverages. Together, and with you, we look forward to creating many such moments to fulfill our Dream of bringing people together for a better world. In 1931, our company, registered in Switzerland as Overseas Breweries Limited, was built atop a hill overlooking Agbogbloshie in Accra, becoming West Africa’s first brewery. The Brewery's establishment was also novel for another reason; it marked the beginning of Ghana’s manufacturing industry, and CLUB Premium Lager became Ghana’s first manufactured product. In 1975, the assets of Overseas Breweries Ltd. were taken over by the locally registered Accra Brewery Ltd. (ABL) to facilitate Ghanaian participation in the business. SABMiller Plc (then South African Breweries {SAB}) acquired controlling shares in the company in 1997 and in 2016, we became a proud member of the AB InBev family. Our purpose, for over 8 decades, has been to thoroughly delight Ghanaians with the best quality beverages comprising our flagship brand, CLUB Premium Lager; CLUB Shandy Bͻsoԑ; Eagle Lager; Eagle Extra Stout; Stella Artois; Budweiser; and Beta Malt, our non-alcoholic malt brand.     Enjoy like a boss at Afakye 2024! Cape Coast is buzzing with excitement as we gear up for the colorful Fetu Afahye festival on 6th and 7th September 2024! This annual celebration is a time for family reunions, cultural pride, and incredible displays of tradition—from masquerades to boat racing, and of course, the vibrant procession of chiefs and warrior groups.   Accra Brewery PLC is thrilled to once again be part of this iconic celebration.     Accra Brewery PLC recently hosted a successful two-day annual Sales Convention that brought together our Sales & Marketing teams from across Ghana. This event was a platform to align on our strategic objectives for 2024 and chart the course for 2025. A highlight of the convention was the launch of our BEES app, a revolutionary digital shopping platform designed to enhance customer experience and drive sales. Our sales team received comprehensive training on the app, both practical and theoretical, with our global BEES team on hand to provide in-depth explanations and address any queries. This ensured that our team is well-prepared for the app’s rollout, marking a significant step forward in our digital transformation journey. BEES is set to transform the way we do business, offering customers the convenience of browsing and purchasing Accra Brewery products, accessing prices, promotions, and more. With features like a Rewards Programme, Personalized Shopping Recommendations, and Flexible Delivery options, BEES not only facilitates digitization but also aims to boost sales, profitability, and strengthen customer relationships. The convention concluded with a celebratory dinner and Awards night, where we recognized individuals for their exceptional work and dedication. The evening, filled with live entertainment and refreshments, celebrated our collective achievements and reinforced our team spirit under the inspiring theme, " Power of One."     Last week, our leadership team from across the Africa Zone came together in South Africa, for our annual Leadership, Performance, and Cheers Conference. Our convention was about embracing the power of leading with “AND”, and how “AND” symbolizes continuous progress through connection and addition. It was an honour to have our Global @ABInBev CEO @MichelDoukeris present our global ambition, alongside our other global leaders @FernandoTennenbaum, @JohnBlood, @DonnaLorenson and @MarcelMarcondes and the Africa Leadership team.     Accra Brewery PLC (ABL) is proud to announce the rebranding and expansion of its pioneering Retailer Development Programme, now dubbed GRIT, which stands for Growing Retailers Innovatively Together. Originally launched in 2022, this initiative was designed to equip ABL retailers with essential business skills to better manage their finances and support the growth of their businesses. The initial focus of the program was on empowering women retailers by addressing their specific needs through empowerment and education. During the inaugural three-day training, attendees participated in five comprehensive modules that provided them with the relevant business skills needed to increase their sales and revenues. Over the years, the program has evolved, and ABL now extends its training to both female and male retailers. This year, GRIT introduces a new phase with a dual-format approach, offering both in-person and virtual training sessions. This expansion allows ABL to reach a broader audience of retailers, ensuring more individuals can benefit from the program's valuable insights. GRIT represents ABL's ongoing commitment to supporting its valued retailers by providing the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in today's competitive market.     Staff of Accra Brewery PLC have participated in the “Homowo clean-up exercise” along Graphic Road. They dedicated their time and effort to cleaning the street, removing litter, and ensuring the area was free of debris. The initiative is part of the annual Homowo festival celebrated by the Ga people of Ghana. It was organized by the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, the Ministry of Local Government, the Ministry of Interior, the Ga Traditional Council, and other partners. Plant Manager, Siftan Yiremond, stated: “Our participation underscores Accra Brewery PLC's commitment to community engagement and environmental stewardship. We believe that by taking part in such activities, we not only enhance our surroundings but also foster a sense of unity and shared responsibility among community members. “
