Reliqa

Reliqa are the outrageous, female-fronted four piece that set out to scratch the collective itch for passionate, well thought out, and flavoursome heavy music. Wielding a unique blend of aggressive riffage and powerhouse vocals, the group fall under the Alternative Metal umbrella, where the “alternative” marks their open-mindedness towards music in its many forms. Monique, Miles, Brandon, and Shannon have the chemistry and “ridiculous talent” (Wall of Sound, 2017) to make for an unforgettable performances on and off stage.

November of 2018 saw Reliqa latest release, their sophomore EP, ‘Eventide’, which has had listeners and reviewers alike floored by the polished professionalism of a humble Central Coast metal outfit. The EP’s eight tracks usher in a number of experiments in style from the four musicians’ vast individual tastes. Eventide has been marked “a triumph and a landmark for Australian alternative metal… 9.5 out of 10” (S. Wolstenholme, 2018) and is continually praised for its bravery and innovation. Leading single, ‘Earthbound’, was a slow burning, pseudo-ballad teaser of a fresh form for the band since their debut EP. This was followed by the impactful, anthemic tsunamis that were ‘Hangman’ and ‘The Halfway Point’, having received a combined pull of over 200 thousand Spotify streams and been herded into multiple official playlists. Reliqa have since received words of support and acclaim from heavy music fans all over the globe, creating a small but genuinely loyal fanbase that share their excitement for big things to come from the band.

The future is looking bright for Reliqa. The band have shown their capacity to take the spotlight in live music scenarios, having played to full houses headlining shows locally, and consistently stolen the attention of Sydney, Newcastle, and even Canberra, when casting their sounds outside their primary stomping grounds. With plans to tour the east coast of Australia, and with exciting new material already underway, the band have zero intentions of slowing down and cannot wait for masses of music fans to experience these four dedicated musicians creating, exploring, and sharing their craft.
