About

Genius Annotation

“Seamus” is a humorous song constructed on the structure of a 12-bar blues song, with acoustic guitars both strummed and slid, bass, and a piano. It serves as the closing track to Meddle’s first side before entering the album’s master work, “Echoes”.

The rudimentary lyrics are credited to Roger Waters and sung by David Gilmour, complete with howling songs provided by a dog who gave his name to the song.

The composition is credited to all four members of the band, which adds to the joke, considering how short, simple and notably drum-less it is.
