End of TCU's win against Texas Tech was a glorious display of gridiron shenanigans

It really almost worked.

Down 55-52 with seconds ticking away, Texas Tech went rogue and did whatever it could to try and take down No. 2 TCU. This meant trying to make The Great Lubbock Lateral happen.

It was assumed quarterback Patrick Mahomes might throw a Hail Mary to win it, but he got into some trouble with the TCU defense and after scrambling around the backfield. So he found DeAndre Washington for 23-yards downfield, who lateraled to linebacker Mike Mitchell, who ran to the Horned Frogs 10 and then lateraled to Devin Lauderdale, who lateraled to Jakeem Grant who hurdled a defender and was headed straight for the end zone before he was knocked out of bounds.

Game over, TCU wins.

It was glorious and nearly worked.

The Red Raiders led 52-48 with 23 seconds left, but TCU faced fourth-and-goal from the 4. Horned Frogs’ Heisman hopeful quarterback Trevone Boykin’s pass went high to Josh Doctson, but it was tipped and caught by a diving Aaron Green who saved the day for TCU. Boykin ended up going 34 of 54 for 485 yards and four touchdowns.

This capped a thrilling Big 12 matchup that saw 11 lead changes and both teams combine for 1,357 total yards without any turnovers.
