The 2024 NFL draft is finally here and it has been a historic showing for the FSU Seminoles. Jared Verse was the first ‘Nole off the board, going to the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 19 overall pick.
He was Florida State’s first rounder but they saw three players taken in the second round, led by Keon Coleman. The Buffalo Bills made him the first pick of the second round as they look to give star quarterback Josh Allen another weapon.
By the time the second and third rounds were complete on Friday, six different Seminoles had been drafted. It is the most FSU players taken in a single draft since 2018, when six players were taken in the entire draft. That number should get broken on Saturday as they still have several players who will hear their names called, including wide receiver Johnny Wilson and tight end Jaheim Bell.
Let’s take a look at every FSU Seminole that has been picked in the 2024 NFL draft.
Los Angeles Rams EDGE Jared Verse
The Rams took Fiske with the 19th overall pick, making him the 47th first-round pick in FSU history. The move was a popular one as they look to rebuild a defensive line that lost Aaron Donald. He gives them one of the best defensive players in the draft at great value.
Buffalo Bills select WR Keon Coleman
The Bills needed a top wide receiver and they got someone who can be that in Coleman. He is a physical player who won’t wow you with his speed but shines in the red zone and can create after the catch, their fans loved the selection.
Los Angeles Rams select DT Braden Fiske
As mentioned earlier, the Rams need to improve their defensive line and they decided the best way was to just keep taking Seminoles. Fiske will give them someone who can generate pressure along the interior and he clearly knows how to play with Verse, something that has the Rams excited.
San Francisco 49ers select CB Renardo Green
Green spent five years with the Seminoles and battled through injuries and position changes before becoming a second-round pick. His development had FSU’s fanbase fired up and the 49ers are getting someone who can be a Day One starter in the secondary.
Arizona Cardinals select RB Trey Benson
Benson came to FSU as an unproven transfer and left as a third-round pick, he quickly endeared himself to Florida State fans and it shouldn’t him long to do the same in Arizona as they appear to love the pick. He will pair nicely with veteran running back James Conner as the Cardinals keep adding weapons around quarterback Kyler Murray.
Jacksonville Jaguars select CB Jarrian Jones
While most of FSU’s picks are headed to the West Coast, Jones will have a short travel to Jacksonville. He has not allowed a touchdown in coverage since 2022 and the Jacksonville fans are ready to watch him work.
New York Jets select QB Jordan Travis
Travis has been drafted as the New York Jets traded up to select him. He became the first FSU quarterback to be drafted since Jameis Winston and the Florida State fanbase is thrilled he is headed to New York.
Philadelphia Eagles select Johnny Wilson
Wilson was Florida State’s first pick in the sixth round as the Eagles took him with the 185th overall pick. His impressive frame could lead to him becoming a mismatch in the red zone and he is a proven blocker, something that should help their rushing attack.
New England Patriots select Jaheim Bell
Bell was a versatile weapon for the Seminoles and is a player that the Patriots can use all over the field as they look to rebuild their offense. He has great value in the seventh round and has a chance to be one of the sleepers of the entire draft.
San Francisco 49ers select Tatum Bethune
Bethune transferred in from UCF and quickly made an impact for the Seminoles, winning a starting spot. He might not have ideal athleticism but he can make plays and will help on special teams for the Patriots.
