Thought leadership isn't for the faint hearted; it demands relentless curiosity, unwavering commitment, and the courage to tread new territories. This is why we hold genuine thought leaders in high esteem - their path is one of resilience, insight, and the audacious pursuit of change. When I think of thought leaders, I think of people like Amy Edmondson and her work on psychological safety...or Bréne Brown with her work on vulnerability, empathy and leadership. There are also quite a lot of great thought leaders right here on LinkedIn!! So how does one become a great thought leader? Here are my thoughts:  𝟏. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐞:  It is important to firstly figure out your existing beliefs and passions, and then commit to achieving a deep, nuanced understanding of your chosen field. This involves continuous learning, staying abreast of the latest research, trends, and innovations, and being able to foresee future directions. Deep expertise allows you to provide unique insights and valuable content that sets you apart. It DOESN'T mean thinking you are expert!! 𝟐. 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲: As well as challenging your beliefs through research, embrace vulnerability in your thought leadership. Share your learning journey, including the doubts, failures, and lessons learned along the way. Authenticity helps in building trust and relatability with your audience, making your insights more impactful. 𝟑. 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠:  Thought leaders can convey their beliefs and ideas passionately and articulately. They can also harness the power of storytelling. A compelling story can engage an audience on an emotional level, making complex ideas more accessible and memorable. 𝟒. 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞:  Thought leaders don't stop at engaging and fostering a community; they aim to mobilize their community towards action and change. They Inspire their followers to apply their insights in a practical context; they advocate for change, and contribute to a larger movement. Thought leadership is most powerful when it not only enlightens but also empowers others to act, leading to tangible impact in your field or society at large. Here's an idea...tag a person on LinkedIn who you see as a thought leader, to help spread great ideas and recognize great leaders 😊 #thoughtleadership #leadership #leaders #thoughtleader
